HITMEN HEADLINES: The Calgary Hitmen play game two of a three game home stand this evening against the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Hitmen have won two straight and are coming off Friday’s 6-0 win over the Portland Winter Hawks. Calgary set a set a new franchise record with 65 shots on goal, breaking the old mark of 55 set on September 30th, 1995 in a 7-5 win at Moose Jaw. Other highlights Friday included a pair of personal milestones as Chase Schaber scored his first WHL goal, while Martin Jones made 16 saves to record his first WHL shutout. T.J. Galiardi scored twice while Michael Stone, Ryan White and Ian Schultz added singles. Brock Nixon chipped in three assists while Brandon Kozun had two helpers. Calgary went 2-7 on the powerplay. Portland was 0-4.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: At 34-13-1-3 Calgary leads the Central Division and the Eastern Conference with 72 points. They sit seven points ahead of Lethbridge for top spot in the division, and three points ahead of Regina for number one in the conference. The Hitmen are third overall in the WHL Standings one point behind Tri-City and two back of Spokane. Calgary is 18-7-1-1 at home, 16-6-0-2 on the road.

VS BRANDON: Tonight is third of four meetings. The Hitmen lead the season series 2-0.

-Dec. 30 in Calgary; Hitmen 6 Wheat Kings 5. Hitmen overcame a 5-2 third period deficit

Cant really blame them for their loss tonight, 3 games in 3 nights is hard.

He hit Schultz from behind into the boards,I've seen
alot worse,Schultz was down for a few minutes but
skated off

what exactly did McCue do to get a match for attempt to injure?

The worst part is that it was the third check from behind on the night. Brandon was clearly a tired team. They evidently were not thinking straight.

McCue gave a cheap shot and should get at least 3 games. Like the above post stated that there was a lot of hits from behind esecially Aulie. Was surprised at this as the Wheaties played a good clean games earlier with lots of clean checks. Chalk it up to tiredness & frustration. Good future for this team with a good crop of 16 & 17 on it.
