Pats lineup/prospects update

It's bug season for the Regina Pats.
No. 1 centre Tim Kraus will be a game-time decision but is likely to play on Wednesday against the Moose Jaw Warriors after missing Regina's last game — a 4-2 decision over Prince Albert on Saturday — with a throat ailment.
The Pats have a few players who've been dealing with sickness, including goalie Linden Rowat, who was ill on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen how much — if at all — the Pats' lineup will be affected against Moose Jaw. With a win, Regina will clinch its first East Division title in 10 years.
As of now, Josh Elder is the only injured player. He's out for perhaps the rest of the season with a knee injury. If the swelling subsides, he's expected to undergo an MRI next week to determine the extent of the damage to his MCL.

The Pats have some new faces at practice this week after the Regina Pat Canadians were eliminated by the Prince Albert Mintos in the first round of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs.
Goalie Derek Tendler and winger Cody Hanson are slated to remain with the WHL club for the rest of the season and playoffs. Forwards Andrew Rieder and Brent Struble skated with the team but won't be sticking around.
Also slated to join Regina are forwards Dominick Favreau and Graham Hood from the Beardy's Blackhawks. Favreau and Hood were selected in the first and second rounds, respectively, in the 2007 bantam draft. Tendler was taken in the fifth round and Rieder in the seventh. Tendler was named the top goalie and league MVP in the SMAAAHL on the weekend.
Hanson, 17, started the season with the Pats but was returned to midget AAA for playing time. He's a former first-round pick of the Seattle Thunderbirds and will serve as a depth player for the rest of the season. Tendler, 15, will serve as Regina's No. 3 goalie.
By the way, the Pat Canadians reportedly instigated an ugly brawl at the end of their final game against Prince Albert on Sunday. It's too bad the incident will be the last memory of an otherwise solid season for the Pat Canadians.
If Regina did indeed start the bench-clearing melee, some sort of punishment should be imposed. Not that it would be much consolation for the Mintos, whose chances in their next series will likely be hurt by suspensions.

The Pats are also keeping an eye on top prospect Jordan Weal, a fourth-round pick in 2007. He's currently in a semifinal series with the Vancouver Giants of the B.C. major midget loop.
Weal led the league with 38 goals and 58 assists for 96 points in 39 games. He won the scoring title by 30 points over teammate Garrett Milan.
The Giants finished first in the league with a 36-2-2 record and second in the Mac's tournament.
Already labelled "Jordan Eberle with speed" it's not a stretch to imagine that Weal could help Regina's power play right now.
