Did anyone catch last nights new Simpsons? Homer and Grandpa Simpson had to go to Canada to smuggle prescription drugs down to the Springfield because of high medication costs. So they are talking to this old guy Granpa knows, and he gives them his card (for prescription drugs), and he something along the lines of, "With that, you can get enough drugs to make Regina look like Saskatoon.", and the old people with him laughed and said "Good one." I thought this was pretty funny. They also went to Winnipeg where the welcome sign read, 'WINNIPEG - "We were born here, what's your excuse?"'. That was pretty funny as well.
They seem to mention Saskatchewan a few times through out the series. Probably because it's so stupid sounding and most people have never heard of it. They made fun of the Roughriders and the Rough Riders one time I remember.

I remember an episode of the Simpsons when Homer was looking for something to watch on TV and all he could find was the CFL draft. Thought that was hilarious. Also remember the episode when Bart And Lisa play hockey. I swear when Bart had a breakaway, he crossed like 4 bluelines and two redlines! Or how they ran the clock during Bart's penalty shot! LOL

That was where the commentator on the TV was heard saying, "The Saskatchewan Roughriders are up next. They only scored three Rouges all last year." :D

Sask and Man are known for prescription drugs, and BC is known for BC Bud?

Which will have more income to the local economy?

Pretty sure it has something to do with Matt Groening's father being from Saskatchewan. It may have been his grandfather, but I don't think so. In any case, that probably has something to do with it. Sounds funny though, wish I'd seen it!

Your right Bran. I think the creator has some Saskatchewan connections. I read an article on famous Saskatchewanites and the Simpson creator has roots here. Can't remember what roots but it was definitley Saskatchewan.

Dug this up on the net:

Groening grew up in Portland, Oregon, and seems to have found names for some characters from major Portland street names such as Flanders, Lovejoy, Powell, Quimby, and Terwilliger. His father Homer, a descendant from Russian Mennonites in Canada, spoke Plautdietsch as a child in Saskatchewan in the 1920s but Matt never learned the language
