Suspensions & signing
Two suspensions announced today with effect on tonight's games. Moose Jaw defenceman Keaton Ellerby has been suspended for tonight's game four against Calgary for a major and game misconduct he received for slashing the Hitmen's Brock Nixon late in game three. Ellerby is one of Moose Jaw's top two or three defencemen so this is obviously a hit to the Warriors as they try to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole in the series.

Slightly less significant is Tri-City defenceman Mitch McColm getting a one game suspension for his actions at the end of game three - he took a spearing double-minor at the buzzer. With the Americans holding a 3-0 lead in the series, missing McColm for one game is unlikely to have a severely detrimental effect on the Ams.

And in another bit of news today, Red Deer forward Brandon Sutter has signed an NHL contract with the Carolina Hurricanes, who picked him in the first round last summer. Sutter must still return to the Rebels next year if he doesn't stick in Carolina, but nobody should rule out him making the jump as a 19 year old either.
