Mikkel Boedker
Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
Position: LW Height: 5.11 Weight: 195
This young man has a very bright future ahead of him. His speed allows him an opportunity to dominate on each shift. He is a very creative playmaker who uses all of his wingers and defense when looking for options. He plays the point on the PP and gives Kitchener the time to set up various options. He has continued to improve each month during the season, and he is a top 10 pick for us in this year’s draft.
Josh Brittain
Kingston Frontenacs (OHL)
Position: LW Height: 6.04 Weight: 202
Prototypical power forward who possesses a large frame, has better than average hands/puck skills and generally reads the plays well. Brittain’s game has improved as the season has gone on. In he playoffs has been used in all situations. He does a great job of going to the net hard without the puck creating lots
of traffic for the goalie to deal with. Overall a big improvement in this player from the start of the season. Had 15 points in first 32 games and 36 points in last 36 games.
Michael Hutchinson
Barrie Colts (OHL)
Position: G Height: 6.02.5 Weight: 185
Hutchinson has been a pleasant surprise this season with the Colts. Big goalie who takes up a lot of room. Has a great work ethic and has progressed all season, square to puck and good size. Playing with a lot more confidence and poise than early in the season. Has the size to see over players who are looking to screen the net. During the playoffs was outstanding and a big reason why the Colts were able to upset the heavily favored Brampton Battalion in the first round – stopped 221 of 229 shots he faced for a .965 save percentage and in the five-game series was selected first star three times and second star once.
Kory Nagy
Oshawa Generals (OHL)
Position: Center Height: 5.10.7 Weight: 196
Nagy is gaining more confidence as he matures as a hockey player. His game has improved as the season has gone on. He was Oshawa's fifth-round pick, 85th overall in 2005 OHL draft. Not real big but does have good strength. A good skater with above average speed who can pull away from defender for breakaway.
Patrice Cormier
Rimouski (QMJHL)
Position: Center Height: 6.01.5 Weight: 201
Power forward with great character who has struggled due to injury for most of the year, that is, until the playoffs. Despite losing to Rouyn-Noranda, Cormier impressed ISS scouts with his work ethic and willingness to compete. He finally appeared healthy to start the playoffs and played some of his best hockey of his junior career.
Luca Sbisa
Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL)
Position: RD Height: 6.01.7 Weight: 190
Has been quietly moving up ISS rankings all season and has taken his game to another level in the playoffs. Sbisa currently leads all defensemen in playoff scoring with 3 goals, 9 assists and 12 points. His draft stock is rising rapidly and could rise higher if the Hurricanes make a long run into the playoffs.
FALLING
Kyle Beach
Everett Silvertips (WHL)
Position: C Height: 6.02 Weight: 203
Up-and-down year. Hasn’t been the same player in the second half, has struggled offensively, which probably had something to do with injuries. Most significantly, he suffered a concussion in mid-December and another in January -- both the result of fights. When on his game, Beach is a big-time power forward, he's got unbelievable hands, and he can play mean and nasty.
Kevin Bureau-Poulin
Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
Position: G Height: 6.02 Weight: 210
Draft wildcard. Has the ability to steal games. Raw talent, has only been playing nets since age 11. Has struggled all season on a weak team, but should still have his name called on draft day based on pure upside. Out to challenge early, looks pretty confident/comfortable. Very quick legs and glove. Needs some work on technique and positioning.
Zac Rinaldo
Mississauga St. Michael's Majors (OHL)
Position: LW Height: 5.11 Weight: 170
Did not show a great deal of overall skill, but plays with a great deal of energy each time on the ice. An average skater who is not real big - not very heavy - added weight would make physical play more effective.
Zach Harnden
Peterborough Petes (OHL)
Position: RW Height: 6.02.5 Weight: 209
Played regular shift and was used on the PP and PK. Not really noticeable sometimes. Skating continues to be an area for improvement - does not move his feet, which results in lack of overall quickness.
A.J. Jenks
Plymouth Whalers (OHL)
Position: LW Height: 6.01.5 Weight: 206
Often disappointing. Was not a factor in what was the biggest game of the year for this team. His skating is weak and he does not bring enough to the table to have confidence in him continuing to mature to the next level. Continues to take unnecessary penalties, which also are a concern.
