Pierro-Zabotel Joins Baby Pens Pittsburgh Penguins Apr 19, 2008, 11:22 AM EDT
Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Casey Pierro-Zabotel has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Pierro-Zabotel was selected by the Penguins in the third round (80th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft. The forward registered 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) and plus-19 rating in 49 games with Vancouver of the Western Hockey League (WHL) this season. Pierro-Zabotel also recorded six points (two goals, four assists), including one game-winning goal, in 10 playoff games with the club. Last season, he totaled 116 points (51 goals, 65 assists) in 55 games with Merritt of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
Pierro-Zabotel joins Luca Caputi (fourth round, 111th overall) and Keven Veilleux (second round 51st overall) as the third member of the Penguins 2007 NHL Draft class to join the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this week.
