First, the Tips traded their first-round pick in this year's import draft (27th overall) to Regina in exchange for Regina's first-round pick in the 2009 import draft. The trade indicates Everett intends to go with Russian center Vitaly Karamnov and Slovakian left wing Lukas Vartovnik, both of whom will be 19-year-olds, as its two European players again next season.

I would love to see the Pats draft a Russian player, i realize the really skilled 1s stay in russia and get paid to play there. Alot of these Russians that do still come over r highly skilled and most r still better then any 2nd line player here anyways.

They got such top end puck control and very agile. Even the 4th line Russians on the Russian Select team could make any CHL team and be a very high impact player.

We need a scoring Euro again, havent had 1 in a couple years now. Ever since Kalus and Tolpeko.

PLEASE , PLEASE Parker find a scoring Euro

We got alot of forwards at camp that are WHL caliber guys. Weal, Braaten(if he signs), Kenton Miller, Breitkreuz, Mulder, Hanson, and more players along with the returning guys. I also have a feeling that Cerveny will turn it up a njotch this year, as most of last year was him getting inclined to the north american game.

I think we should get a euro defenceman. Look at how Sbisa, and Niemi played for their respective teams. We could use that skill at the point.

HOWEVER.....with our second euro pick (I know we have cerveny+Euro pick #1), I think the pats should select highly touted russian forward Nikita Filatov. He says he wants to play in north america next year, and if he cant crack an NHL/AHL roster, he comes here. Nothing to lose as we get 2 euro picks if we choose to. If he doesnt make his NHL/AHL team, he comes here, and that would be awesome to have him even if it is for one year.

If you keep a current Euro on your player list (other than a 20-year old Euro), you can only make one selection in the next Import draft.

If you keep a current Euro and a 20-year old Euro, you can use both picks as the 20-year old may not return in the upcoming season.

If you had two current Euros on your player list, you do not get to make any picks in the upcoming draft.

That makes sense, I guess. My mistake.

Filatov would be too big of a risk anyways, though would be a high reward too. Doubtful he goes to the dub next year anyways. Kopitar didnt (when we pciked him), Filatov probably wont either.

The reason Kopitar didnt was cuz he wanted to stay home in his home country after playing 2 seasons away from home already. Just think that year we could of had Kalus and Kopitar on the same roster. Didnt happen though oh well move on.

Cereny in my mind was always ready to play our game, Hunt just took his time with him and wanted to play him as a checker instead of on a scoring line. Hunt woke up at trade deadline thouh and finally put him on a line with some decent players. At the begining of the year he could of played with Ofukany and they could of put up numbers but instead Hunt wanted Ofukany to play with Leffler, Ofukany needed someone to get him the puck, Leffler wasnt the guy Hunt couldnt see that though.. and yes i know Ofukany was in Hunts doghouse from day 1 this season. I think he would of been fine if Ofukany would of had someone to play with who had skill.. (hence) Cerveny.

I do feel that Cerveny will be a HUGE part of our team next season... but we do need another scoring Euro tho, we cant expect Weal to score 20 goals as a 16 yr old, if he does great. At the begining of the year there was so much hype on Strueby to score like he did at 17 on teh Pat C's but that didnt happen.. he started to have more confidence the last 15 games or so though. I know there are guys like Mudler and Baasten (if i spelt those right) but really can we expect them to come in and start scoring right away, as nice of a thought as it is i just dont see it... Euro's can usually do that though as they play a high skill level game anyways back home, alot of times with these Euro's our canadian kids arnt where there skill level is cuz we preach so much on dump and chase and go work for the puck.. which is stupid.... I love rough and tough hockey but my way of thinking is... why dump it in and go work for it when u already have puck possesion.. IE look at the Red Wings for example
