Has Alzner Signed yet

Does anyone know if Alzner has signed with the Caps yet? If not, are they no longer looking at signing a 5th overall pick? When is the deadline...July 1 or what?

He only got drafted last year. I believe they have 2 years to do it. He has a late birthday. Boy would that for them if they forgot vc124

He is not signed although they have been negotiating for a while so you'd think something would be done fairly soon. With Hickey and Gagner (the players picked right before and right after Alzner) already having signed, the market value for Alzner has to be pretty much set.

The deadline you speak of is for signing 2006 picks only. Since Alzner was a 2007 pick the Capitals actually have over a year yet before they have to sign him or risk losing his rights.....which means that it's possible he could not sign before the fall, and thus end up back in the WHL as an overager. But the chances of that are pretty slim since the Caps seem to want to get something done and get Alzner into an NHL or AHL uniform for next season.
