Dan Mulhausen Tri-City Americans

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans General Manager Bob Tory announced today that 16-year-old defenseman Spencer Humphries has signed a WHL Players Contract with the team.

The 6'2, 190-pound defenseman from Delta, British Columbia appeared in 40 games for the Vancouver Canadians AAA Midget team last season, recording 3 goals, 6 points and 18 penalty minutes. The Canadians finished second in the British Columbia Major Midget League standings this past season, holding a 28-8-4 record, but lost in the League semi-finals to the Okanagan Rockets.

"We are pleased that Spencer and his family have chosen the WHL for his hockey development and career path," stated Tory. "We look forward to Spencer competing for a spot on our hockey club this season."

The Americans' rookie camp will start on Wednesday, August 20 and conclude on Saturday, August 23 with the annual Todd Klassen Memorial Classic. Main camp will then kick-off on Sunday, August 24.

Maybe once Joe Colborne gets drafted this June, he might think about going W for best development. Rather than going the NCAA scholly route that he earned in the AJ. The Ams can give him the an Education package that gets him tuition wherever. Not the same education benefit perhaps as an ivy league full ride. But maybe a better hockey route for him to go all the same. Bigger payoff in the end. He could really help maintain or elevate the Ams contending status for next year.
