It's being reported that former Bronco coach Todd McLellan, who is an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings is the front runner for the vacant coaching position of the Colorado Avalanch. It is also reported that Swift Current resident Marc Habscheid may be in the running as an assistant coach for the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver relieved assistant coaches Mike Kelly and Barry Smith of their duties with the club on Wednesday. It was reported that Marc was interviewed in 2006 for the head coaching position of the Canucks when Marc Crawford left the club.

Tony Granato was just named new head coach of the Avalanche. He served as head coach of Avalanche from 2002 - 2004.

Both rumors could be false as Vancouver is now talking about promoting from within and moving the coaches from the Manitoba Moose up to the Canucks as assistants.
