BLAZERS INTRODUCE NEW-LOOK HOCKEY AND FRONT OFFICE STAFF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 11th, 2008

Kamloops, BC – Kamloops Blazers President Tom Gaglardi, along with Vice President and General Manager Craig Bonner, today announce a new look to both the club’s front office staff and hockey personnel structure.

In the Blazer front office, Shane Zulyniak has been named Director of Sales and Corporate Sponsorship, Dave Chyzowski is now Director of Sales and Marketing, Greg “Spike” Wallace takes over as Community and Sponsorship Coordinator, Tracy McDonald has been named Office Administrator and Retail Store Manager, and Angie Mercuri is the club’s new Executive Director of Business Operations. Karen Hibbert remains in her current capacity as Box Office Administrator.

In the hockey department, the club has named Matt Recchi as Director of Player Personnel while Ken Fox joins the Blazers as Head Scout.

“We are happy to have moved a step closer to finalizing the structure of our hockey club going forward,” says Gaglardi. “Every one of these individuals has shown strong abilities in these roles and we feel confident they will supply the leadership, guidance, and performance we are looking for.”

Shane Zulyniak played in the WHL for five seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders before moving on to a playing career at the University of Calgary and obtaining a Commerce Degree with a major in Marketing and Finance, graduating in 1999. He then played professional hockey in Germany for 2 years before making Kamloops his home in 2001. He worked in the trucking industry for 5 years holding various titles. After getting hired by the Blazers in 2006, he split duties as an assistant coach and assistant General Manager.

Dave Chyzowski played with the Blazers from 1988 to 1990 and was selected 2nd overall in the 1989 NHL entry draft by the New York Islanders. He was the youngest player, at the time, to ever play for the Islanders. He was also the captain of Canada’s 1990 World Jr. Gold Medal Championship team in Helsinki. He played over 1000 professional games over 18 years before his retirement in November of 2006. He was hired by the Blazers as the Director of Marketing in December of 2006 and will continue in his marketing role plus assist with sales and sponsorship.

Greg “Spike” Wallace started with the Blazers in 1984 as the trainer and equipment manager. He was named Equipment Trainer for Team Canada’s Under 18's in 1993 for the Japan Cup and also for Canada’s Spengler Cup entry in 1995. Spike assumed an office role in 2005 as the Alumni & Community Coordinator organizing and managing community appearances and assisting the training staff on game days. He will continue his role in the community and will also assist with sponsorship and sales in the marketing department.

Tracy McDonald has lived in Kamloops for the past 27 years. She was involved in the retail industry for 20 years in management positions before joining the Blazers in July 1997 as the administrative assistant. She will continue her administrative role and also manage the retail store.

Angie Mercuri was born and raised in Kamloops and attended Thompson Rivers University in the Certified General Accountants of BC program, majoring in accounting and finance. Prior to joining the Blazers as Office Manager in 2003, she was involved in the hospitality industry for 15 years. She will assume the position of Executive Director of Business Operations, overseeing the

business operations of the hockey team and reporting directly to Mr. Gaglardi.

Karen Hibbert, a Blazer employee for the past 12 years, retains her current role as Box Office Administrator.

In the hockey department, Matt Recchi signs on as Director of Player Personnel after spending the past three seasons as an amateur scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins – a position which saw him scout the WHL and other leagues both in Canada and the US. During his time with the Penguins, he was instrumental in drafting players such as Jordan Staal, Angelo Esposito, and Casey Pierro-Zabotel. He also spent three seasons as an advance scout with the Vancouver Giants after working for three years with the Blazers as a part-time assistant coach.

Head Scout Ken Fox joins the Blazers from the Swift Current Broncos where he was their Assistant Scouting Director. He has also worked as the Saskatchewan and Manitoba scout for the Vancouver Giants for four years – winning a league title in the process, nine years as the Saskatchewan scout for the Red Deer Rebels – winning the Memorial Cup in 2001, and four years as Head Scout for the Humboldt Broncos – winning a Royal Bank Cup.

“We’re really happy to have added these two individuals to our hockey staff,” says Craig Bonner. “Both have the eye for the talent and character we need for our hockey team. I have worked with both Matt and Ken in the past and their work ethic and loyalty is second to none. We now feel we have a very strong tandem in charge of our scouting department.”
