KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has traded for 18-year-old defenseman Scott Macaulay from the Swift Current Broncos in exchange for a conditional 5th round pick in the 2009 Bantam Draft.

The 5’9”, 175-pound defenseman from Winnipeg, Manitoba appeared in 55 games for the Winnipeg Saints of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League last season, registering 9 goals, 47 points and 118 penalty minutes. Macaulay was named the Kal-Tire MJHL Defenseman of the Month in March and helped lead the Saints to the 2007-08 Addison Division title and the MJHL Finals. Scott is also the younger brother of current Americans forward Blair Macaulay
“Scott is a skilled d-man with very good skating ability,” explained Tory. “He has excelled offensively at all levels that he has played at.”

“Scott’s desire has always been to pursue an NCAA scholarship. We are hoping that with our connections to Winnipeg and with the positive experience his brother had with our organization that Scott will attend training camp and make a decision on our program at that time,” Tory continued.
