Sutter has stated he is almost certainley taking a forward at 17th spot. I have always felt Boychuk is a mid first rounder but I could be wrong. Will be interesting to see if he slips to the 17th spot and is available when the Flames pick. He is a local boy (Airdire) and Canes fans will would be lucky as hell if he goes to Calgary. At least we could see him play once in awhile. If he goes to like Nashville or some other Eastern non hockey city, we will never get to see him play.

Finally Canes and Hitmen fans agree on something. Here's hoping

He will be off the board before the Flames pick at 17 - guaranteed. The kid is too skilled to last that long.

I agree, at the prospects game I thought he was the top guy that day.

Hey don't get me wrong. I would love to se him go in the top ten, but after the first 7 or 8 guys, things can start to bounce around a lot. It depends on what a team is looking for. ISS has him at 12 but the NHL guru's still love size. Beach, Myers and Tuebert are gonna be hard to pass on and they are rated behind Zach. For arguments sake, throw them in front of Boychuk and a surprise European or 2 and maybe a goalie (Pickard)and he slips to about 18 - 20th easily. With the depth of talent in this draft he could go from 10th to 20th when you do the math, and I would not be a bit surprised.
Having said he could go as late as 20 , I don't think there is any way he will go past 17 however. I think if he is there at 17 he is definitely the number one remaining offensive forward. The Flames would be crazy not to take a local kid with that much talent at 17 when Sutter as much said he wants an offensive forward.
Boychuk has had some of his best games at the Saddledome (loves the big ice and loves to beat the Hitmen), so he would be a great fit for The Flames.

actually final rankings have him at 8, and Sbisa at 12, on NHL.com, some guys have really moved based on what they are showign for final rankings.

Those are different ratings altogether and not very good either. There are a few diifferent ratings out thier. I was using the ISS which were a lot more accurate than those. The ISS top ten rankings all got picked in the top ten............................................... ....
As I said earlier, Boychuk went in the middle of the first round and all 3 of the bigger guys I mentioned who are rated behind him, went ahead of him. Size still matters.

I have been waiting for central scouting to put up their final rankings, and they never released them prior to the draft which is odd.
