Do Blades season ticket holders get dibs on WJ tickets?

With the WJ in Ottawa this year they were offering tickets to anyone with a CHL season ticket beforehand i believe. No reason to think this would be different.
I know i am gonna go to this tourny.

Any ideas when these will tix will be up for grabs? My Dad always has a couple of Bronco season tickets so if its CHL that would be sweet. Prob gonna buy Blade tix anyways.

I don't think the Blades have got any info or very little other than they were rewarded the World Juniors. I'm sure the tickets will sell very fast.The blades office has been closed for holidays the last two weeks and are just returning this week. I would phone or e-mail the Blades office and ask. The Blades P.R./GameDay promotions contact is brad@saskatoonblades.com. Not sure if he can help but he may have some info for you.

Yes season ticket holders should get first dibs BUT there should be a limit so that those that cant afford to pay 300 or 400 dollars or whatever it is on season tickets can go to.

The 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship will take place from late December 2009 to early January 2010 (exact dates to be determined) in Saskatchewan – at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon and the Brandt Centre in Regina.

The game schedule will consist of 31 games, created and approved by both the IIHF and the 10 competing nations. The game schedule will not be determined or announced until early 2009.

Ticket information, ticket prices and the process for obtaining tickets for the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship will be launched and made available on a priority basis later this summer, with first rights going to WHL season ticket holders in Saskatchewan (Prince Albert Raiders, Regina Pats, Saskatoon Blades, Swift Current Broncos, Moose Jaw Warriors). These season ticket holders will be contacted directly with information on the ticket process.

Public sale of tickets will not take place until the fall of 2008.

The 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship will take place from late December 2009 to early January 2010 (exact dates to be determined) in Saskatchewan – at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon and the Brandt Centre in Regina.

The bid from Saskatchewan was chosen from three potential groups who made final presentations in Toronto on June 9-10 to the 2010 and 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship site selection committee, comprised of Bob Nicholson (president and CEO, Hockey Canada), Allan Morris (chair of the board, Hockey Canada), David Branch (president, Canadian Hockey League), Scott Smith (COO, Hockey Canada) and resource person Scott Farley (director of marketing services and events, Hockey Canada). The three finalists were from Halifax/Moncton, Winnipeg/Brandon and Saskatoon/Regina.

Key elements of the bid from Saskatoon/Regina :

· Projected attendance of over 300,000

· An estimated economic impact of over $25 million in the province of Saskatchewan

· Committed government and business support in excess of $5 million

· A projected $500,000 to be contributed from the event profit to support the Saskatchewan Hockey Association Scholarship and Legacy Fund as well as toward player development initiatives and athlete educational support through the Saskatchewan Development Model

· A unique community event program called “World Fest” that will extend the reach of the World Juniors throughout the province

· Over $53 million in facility upgrades and new construction at the two main venues that will be completed prior to the championship

Saskatchewan’s bid includes a guaranteed profit commitment of $12.5 million, with projection to establish a financial return that will be in excess of $13 million. Hockey Canada will receive 50 per cent of net profits, the Canadian Hockey League will receive 35 per cent and the remaining 15 per cent of net profit will be shared between the host committee, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association and the other 12 member branches of Hockey Canada. The net profits will benefit hockey development programs nationally, Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence including Canada’s men’s and women’s programs, all of Hockey Canada’s 13 branches, and fund national hockey development initiatives for years to come.

“Today is a great day for hockey in Canada and especially in Saskatchewan,” said Hockey Canada president and CEO Bob Nicholson. ”The Saskatchewan bid team did a great job in bringing a province-wide bid and solid business plan for us to consider. We had three outstanding bids to choose from and all three candidates would have been great hosts of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship, but at the end of the process, we are very confident that Saskatchewan will deliver an outstanding event.”

”The Canadian Hockey League is proud to be part of bringing the World Juniors back to Saskatchewan”, said CHL president David Branch. “This will be a great experience for all of the players and fans that will be part of this championship. The World Juniors is a unique event when it is held in Canada and the CHL and our member clubs in Saskatchewan will again help to run a first class event in the heartland of Major Junior hockey.”

“We knew we had a strong bid with outstanding support from the Saskatchewan hockey community, and our partners in Saskatoon, Regina, and the Province of Saskatchewan,” said Jack Brodsky, chair of the bid committee. “We will now start the process of building a strong host organizing committee to plan what we know will be a great 2010 World Junior Championship. This was a great team effort and it feels great to win the 2010 World Junior Championship for Saskatchewan.”

Before the 2010 event takes place in Saskatchewan, the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship will be hosted by Ottawa, ON from December 26, 2008 to January 5, 2009. Canada has hosted the IIHF World Junior Championship a total of seven times. Past Canadian host cities include Vancouver/Kamloops/Kelowna, BC (2006), Halifax/Sydney, NS (2003), Winnipeg, MB (1999), Red Deer, AB (1995), Saskatoon, SK (1991), Hamilton, ON (1986) and Montreal, QC (1978).

Canada will also host the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship. Bids from three communities have been presented – Toronto, Saskatoon/Regina and Calgary/Edmonton. The site selection committee is expected to announce the host of the 2012 event in the coming weeks.

Canada has won a medal at ten consecutive IIHF World Junior Championships, including four consecutive gold medals (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008).

That's awesome, Credit Union Center was in like the top 20 arenas in the CHL, Saskatoon finally gets what it deserves, it'll be fun to watch my favourite tournament in my home town.

In Ottawa priority was given to local season ticket holders for the Sens and 67's, then next were teams within close proximity (Kingston for example). After that the packages that were still available went on sale to the general public. Those went on sale via www.capitaltickets.ca

At no time was any priority given to season ticket holders from other CHL teams in other leagues. Maybe the exec's of those teams had a window to purchase tickets, but not season ticket holders.
