Drayson Bowman signed today with Carolina. NIce contract and a $240,000 signing bonus. Well deserved. I just hope we get one more year... I believe he has to actually make the Carolina roster or be sent back to Spokane.

is he eligible to play in the AHL? From the chiefs website it said he makes 65K if he plays minor league hockey in year one, but I'm wondering if that means like "minor" in the ahl, as opposed to "junior" in the WHL ...

Also, can someone explain to me how much the chiefs get compensated (or any other whl team) when a player signs before finishing their 20 y.o. season?

He is inelgible to play in the AHL next season. A player has be 20 years old to play in the AHL, and Bowman will only be 19. He can only play in Carolina or Spokane. Most likely will be Spokane, Carolina has too many weapons for him to make the cut I think. His contract doesn't start until he does turn pro, so if he comes back to Spokane next season, he doesn't make the $65,000. He does, however, get the signing bonus ($262,500).

According to TSN he makes $550,000 if he plays in the NHL in his first year, $600,000 his second and $650,000 his third. Or the aforementioned $65,000 to play in the minors.
