Eakin Scores as Canada Defeats Sweden
Swift Current Broncos’ forward Cody Eakin scored to help Team Canada slip by Sweden 4-3 at the World Under 18 championships in Slovakia.
Eakin and his line-mates: Casey Cizikas of the Mississauga St. Mike’s Majors and Garrett Mitchell of the Regina Pats all had a goal to pace the Canadians who outshot the Swedes 51-23.
Canada’s next game will pit Eakin against a future teammate as they take on Team Slovakia and Oliver Jokel, who was an import pick of the Broncos in the CHL Import Draft, on Thursday. This game concludes the round robin tournament for both teams. A win for Canada will advance them right into Saturday's gold medal final.
