Blades Training Camp


Aug 14, 2008 - The Saskatoon Blades are set to open their 2008 Training Camp on August 20th with

registration of close to 80 players taking place at Credit Union Centre. On ice sessions begin on August 21st at 8:00 am at the Dalmeny Arena in Dalmeny, SK.
The Blades will have 16 returning players from their final roster last season. Blades fans will get their first chance to see off-season acquistions Milan Kytnar and Colin Joe skate with their new teammates as well as first round bantam draft picks Duncan Siemens and Brent Benson show off their talents.
The Blades have also called a news conference for 2:00 pm Aug 20th, where the agenda will include:

Blades General Manager/Head Coach Lorne Molleken will address the media.
Training Camp Schedule and Agenda from Dave Struch
Announcement of the upcoming Ice Breaker Tournament from Scott Ford
World Junior Hockey Championship update and Blades Season Ticket holders opportunity to pre-purchase tickets for the event
Question period to follow with Blades players in attendance

Kytnar is an awesome acquisition for the Blades in my opinion, it'll be fun to watch two very skilled Eropean's take the ice for the Blades. I was gonna go to Dalmeny but 8:00 AM? no thanks.

I thought Klotz was going to Philly camp this year? I hope he stays, he's the funnest player to watch in my opinion and him and Philp is just a clone of Klotz, this should be fun to see.

Klotz will be gone. I think he is there to stay in shape and to help out in camp. Doubt if he will play for the Blades this season. If he does get sent back i will be in total shock.

Gaelen Pattersson (90) and Walker Wintoneak (89). The rookies have looked more impressive then those two. Pattersson could still make it since he`s 18 but Wintoneak I`m not sure of since he`s 19 and don`t think he`ll be on the first two lines, especially not with the way Matt Sokol has been playing.

I honestly don`t think the Blades need a third overager, especially not up front if the rookies show in the pre-season that the scrimmages were no fluke.
