A few examples of how important scounting and drafting is....

and why Kamloops has gone thru a few lean years....I know scouting is tough finding kids at 15 but imagine a team with Mahovsky,Phaneuf,Getzlaf,Dawes and Stoner... can you say Memorial Cups....and yes many other teams passed over these players also....but it is fun to imagine if your scouts were very good that year, what that team would be like for the last 4 years

2000 Draft
Kamloops --- 1st round -- 11th overall --Josh Pokol
Kootenay----1st round -- 17th overall-- Dale Mahovsky

Kamloops----2nd round -- 29th overall -- Blair Yaworski
Saskatoon ---2nd round -- 30th overall -- Mike Green
Red Deer --- 2nd round -- 45th overall --Dion Phaneuf

Kamloops ---3rd round -- 47th overall -- Robin Bolding
Calgary --- 3rd round -- 54th overall -- Ryan Getzlaf

Kamloops --- 4th round -- 65th overall -- John Bubniuk
Kootenay --- 5th round -- 73rd overall -- NIGEL DAWES !!!!!

Kamloops --- 5th round -- 87th overall -- Tim Wallace
Portland--- - 6th round-- 91st overall -- Clayton Stoner

Makes you wonder how much these scouts know about hockey.

Of the list mentioned, Josh Pokol is the only player I've seen enough times to even give an assessment.
