Brandt Centre Scoreboard Unveiled
Regina, Saskatchewan -- IPSCO Place is pleased to announce it is completing a major upgrade to the Brandt Centre scoreboards and video system. Currently being installed are new LED scoreboards at each end of the facility along with new backlit signage.

An 11' high by 19' wide LED video board is scheduled for arrival on September 8th and will be installed adjacent to the larger west end scoreboard. The video board is a state of the art SACO Smartvision (http://www.smartvision.com/eng/index.asp) 16.5mm resolution display purchased through Sign of the Times in Regina.

SACO is the world leader in providing video board technology to sports stadiums and arenas. Similar systems have recently been installed in NHL & NBA arenas in Nashville, Philadelphia, Edmonton and Cleveland as well as outdoor displays for the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Astros.

In addition to the addition of the new LED video board, the upgrade will see the ten 26" upper balcony TV monitors replaced with 37" flat screen monitors. The new scoreboards will be operational for the Pats first pre-season game on September 6th. The video board is to be operational for the Pats home opener September 21st.

"As we attempt to attract larger and more unique events to the Brandt Centre we need to have the flexibility in our facility to meet their set up demands," says Neil Donnelly Vice President, Marketing & Events for IPSCO Place. "The new location for score clock and video system will allow us to create much more intimate settings for smaller events, as well as larger settings such as centre stage concerts in the round."

Regina Pats GM Brent Parker commented, "Going to Pats games has always been about more than just the game itself. It is important for us to provide a complete fan experience where families can enjoy a night out. We are excited about the possibilities that the new Video Board will bring us in regards to building on and improving what we already have in place with our game night promotions."

The Brandt Centre is a multi-use arena complex situated inside IPSCO Place, one of Canada's most significant event sites. The Brandt Centre is home to the WHL's Regina Pats and has hosted numerous major national and international sporting events, in addition to various concerts and cultural activities. The upgrades are part of a continued planned revitalization and redevelopment project currently underway at IPSCO Place.

I thought back in Spring or something, they were talking about a new scoreboard...again...kinda. Up till this week, I completely forgot about that and was pleasantly surprised to hear we are getting it before the beginning of the season. Pretty exciting. Was also a little surprised by the new set-up. Sounds like it will be a deadly screen that not even the Brandt Center can screw up operating.

Will be quite weird seeing no score board in the center anymore as well. At Iron Maiden I noticed the scoreboard wasn't there, but just figured it was taken down for what ever reason. Didn't look very odd at the time, but during hockey it will be a big, empty space now.

The one thing I don't like about the new set-up though, is the advertising the way it is. Would have been nicer if they could have jazzed it up a bit rather than two big boards full of ads.

I didn't even know about it or just completely forgot. Will be weird not having the one above centre ice. Lifting the puck out could have a whole new meaning with all the room.

Wouldn't the placement of the clock hamper expansion?

ALREADY MISS THE BIG SCORE CLOCK AT CENTRE ICE - Was at the practice, and saw the big gap above centre ice. It just is not the same. I prefer the Big Clock.

They were working this afternoon at the west end putting up the two large secitons.

Watching the practice, Coach Derk looked like a small kid out there next to all the players. P.S. - Already shared with Dale that he is one of the five littlest players to play with the Regina Pats, but is the best of all five. Next would be Fran Huck.

I went last night and was sitting in section 113, far end of the main entrance. Couldn't see how much time was left in penalties, I presume that will change? Weird not having the big score clock above the ice!!

Was at the game last night and noticed there is no penalty clock at the east end of the rink. The goalies at the west end were at a disadvantage when the penalty was just about up - no smacking the ice with under 10 secs in the penalty - Are there plans to put a penalty clock at the east end?

Yeah, thus far, I'm not too impressed with this decision. I don't mind the clocks being where they are, but you'd think they would be a bit bigger, and as mentioned, the netting obstructs them quite well...which is no good. And the lack of penalty clock on the one side is terrible I think. The only real plus I seeing from the one new clock is the deadly screen that will be clear as hell. But then, whoever is sitting in front on the west side can't see it unless they crank there heads around.

I wonder if all the banners will be going back up as well, otherwise, inside the Brandt is going to look very dull from here on out.
