The Brandon Wheat Kings had a new face at practice Tuesday as 18-year old defenceman Darren Bestland has joined the team.
The 5-foot-11, 185 pound Bestland spent last season with the MJHL's Selkirk Steelers, tallying three goals, 30 points and 151 penalty minutes in 60 games.
"I've just been thinking about it all summer and it's been a lot of hard decision-making and finally just decided it would be a really good opportunity for me to take," said Bestland after Tuesday's practice, "I kept saying I was going to wait for a scholarship and keep going with that but I haven't heard anything yet so I just decided to come here."

He had 11 major in the mjhl last season.
