What an awesome way to kick it all off!

The Broncos' offense and speed came out in full force tonight in Moose Jaw, as they downed the Warriors 6-1.

As aforementioned, the offense was really kicking. Codey Eakin led the charge with three goals and one assist. Unexpected? Not really...Eakin was a treat to watch last year already...still, 3 G 1 A is very impressive. Some games it seems like the puck bounces the way of one team all game long, but I really think the Broncos worked for it tonight. They were steadily on the forecheck, were relentless along the boards and in opposing zone corners, and really took it to Moose Jaw for the measure of the game. Most other forwards really came through, like Matt Tassone who got kicked from the game for an attempted tilt. Nothing too much transpired in that one, as the linesmen jumped in immediately. So a complete effort by the forwards....when the result is a big win like this, in most cases, the entire line-up has to have chipped in. Such was the case tonight.

As for the defense, they did their job as well. Joel Rogers had a solid performance...he covers a lot of ice out there and is seeing more ice time. Eric Doyle had a great night, including his powerplay goal to make it 2-0 with a big blast from the point. Derek Claffey, as usual, was solid. Another great performer on this night was James Martin. Martin does a lot of good things...including his continued physicality. The hits may not be devastating, but they do enough to considerably slow the opposition down. Good job by the D!

Goaltending? Obviously Travis Yonkman is an experienced goalie...and it really shows. He never even seemed to hold the stick tightly, despite it being the season opener. Yonks was solid when called upon.

As for the Warriors, they undoubtedly looked sluggish. They are a pretty young squad, and the nerves really seemed to kick in right from the start of the game. Guys were kinda out of position, the transition game was pretty weak, and so on. What the Broncos CAN expect from Moose Jaw tomorrow, is a rebound. They'll come hard, and Swifty will have to field the pressure and find a way to turn the momentum their way. It's a given in a home-and-home.

We'll see you tomorrow at the tailgate party just North of the i-Plex to kick it all off here at home!

LET'S GO SWIFTY!!!

Just notes:

-Spencer McAvoy left the game with the help of three teammates. It did not look very good at all.....seemingly Spence has suffered an injury to his knee.

-the Broncos outshot Moose Jaw 42-20.

-powerplay.....Broncos 2 for 6 / MJ 1 for 4

-Bronco fans were out in full force in Moose Jaw. The guys love to hear the noise when they score in an opposing barn!

-just for the hell of it, I asked three different people about the on-going rink situation in Moose Jaw, and all three had entirely different points of view. By the way, there are more petitions going around currently, and more appeals being filed. This is sad....

-a lot of speculation has gone on today about the Dale Weise situation. Will Dale be back, or will he stay? I guess we can only wait and see....

-Family Guy is on.....gotta run. :) lol

Have a great night.

Weise came to an agreement with the Rangers, so we'll see if he is returned.
