From Gregg Drinnan.... http://gdrinnan.blogspot.com/2008/10/wheaties-blazers-make-deal.html

The Kamloops Blazers have dealt D Mark Schneider, 18, to the Brandon Wheat Kings for a seventh-round pick in the 2009 or 2010 bantam draft, at Brandon’s option. Schneider has been a healthy scratch for five of the Blazers’ first 11 games, including Monday’s 3-2 loss to the visiting Prince Albert Raiders. A native of Brandon, he is the son of former Wheat Kings centre Ken Schneider (1979-82). . . . This is the second time in a couple of weeks these teams have gotten together and cut a deal. On Sept. 29, the Blazers sent G James Priestner, 17, to Brandon for a 2009 third-round bantam draft pick.

Is he offensively gifted or a defensive specialist?

buying something just because its on sale. We really have no use for Schneider, but can't really argue for the price. He's not very big, doesn't put up very many points, and I just don't understand where in the line up he fits.

I would have liked to see the season with

Aulie - Erb
Robak -Miller
Bestland - Melnychuk
with Grill-Donavan as our 7th, but what do I know

also, is dale hunt who just got sent home to Sanford(same place Erb is from isn't it?) somebody we might be interested in picking up. Decent numbers on a bad PG team, and only 18

Aren't they running second to Vancouver in the BC Division at 6W - 3L ...?

PG seems to have a decent team this year actually. Armstrong is solid, cepek and Jackson are looking like a good top pairing, and I like their depth on offence even without Hunt.

Too bad they couldnt get that euro player Flaake to come over. They might have made things interesting for the Kelowna and Vancouver.

Was this deal made because the OA deadline is this week and they plan on dropping McCue and need a body in place while Erb recovers, as well as auditioning him alongside Donovan and Robidoux for a spot?

I know a few years ago Brandon was granted some extra time to sort their O/A situation out, but I can't remember if it was because of an injury or NHL camps.. not sure if we can get one this year

We don't really need a spare body in there to drop McCue.. Miller and A-GD could both play consistently

This kid has been hurt none stop ever since he came into the league last year. He hasnt really gotten the chance to get into a groove that everyone expected he would! He was listed out of AAA in Brandon so another brandon kid that mccrimmon is familiar with. Also, ken his father is the alumni executive for the wheat kings and im sure that had a little something to do with things. Trades in the past bringing players closer to home as been good and bad before. Lowry (Neepawa) has blossomed big time and hopefulyl Schneider get things going in his hometown
