RISING

Evander Kane - Vancouver (WHL)
Position: C Height: 6.00 Weight: 165
Kane is a sniper. He consistently scores goals and sees the ice well. He is very dangerous from the blueline in. He is smart around the net, finds the open ice and can score several ways. Good hands. Gives and receives passes well. Kane's fearlessness and competitive fire are part of what makes him so enticing to NHL clubs, along, of course, with his burgeoning skill set.

Magnus Svensson - Paajarvi Timra IK Jr.
Position: LW Height: 6.01.5 Weight: 200
After his outstanding performance at the 2008 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial, Paajarvi has emerged as a bona fide top five pick for the upcoming 2009 NHL draft. He
loves to dangle and is arguably one of the most skilled players available in the draft. Has the speed/quickness to gain separation and back defenders off. He has
excellent scoring instincts and tremendous puckhandling skills. Has soft, quick hands and is very dangerous around the net. Feet will be an asset. Potential star. This is a player to watch.

Nazem Kadri - London Knights (OHL)
Position: C Height: 6.01 Weight: 177
Kadri is a great skater and he uses his speed well in all three zones; it is not only an asset off the rush, but allows him to be very good on the back check. He is
strong and does not shy away from driving the lanes and going hard to the net. He works very hard at getting to the net and looking for loose pucks. Also has
nice hands and touch around the net. He displays great leadership qualities and has a great work ethic and phenomenal hockey IQ.

Tommi Kivisto - Red Deer (WHL)
Position: RD Height: 6.01.5 Weight: 192
There is a lot of interest in this skilled puck-moving defenseman and rightfully so. He demonstrates good control and patience in handling the puck. ISS feel he has the offensive skills to put up respectable numbers as a rookie in the WHL this season. Will be a player to watch as he become more comfortable with the WHL
style of play. Was original set to go to Windsor until Red Deer jumped at the chance to add this talented Finn.

Jeremy Morin - USA Under 18
Position: RW Height: 5.10 Weight: 160
His lofty ranking here at ISS may surprise some experts, however, after watching his development over the past few years we feel he has the potential to be a
star. Has all the tools to play in the NHL. Very offensive minded player. Will be an impact player at the next level. Has a presence of being a player who
really has fun playing the game.

Philip Samuelsson - Chicago Steel (USHL)
Position: LD Height: 6.02 Weight: 195
Is one of the most underrated and underexposed players in this year's draft; also one of ISS's favorite darkhorses. A solid stay-at-home defenseman with good size
at 6'2 and 195 lbs. with a decent frame. Samuelsson exhibits a nice slap shot and good passing decisions.

Mike Lee - Fargo Force (USHL)
Position: G Height: 5.11 Weight: 190
Lee is a butterfly style goalie who moves well in the crease and with his technique covers the lower area of the goal very well. He handles the crease area well
and controlled the rebound activity out front with a few exceptions. A player to watch. Although he may have slid under scouts’ radars, he has a very bright future.

Tyler Barnes - Waterloo (USHL)
Position: RW Height: 6.00 Weight: 165
Draft sleeper. Barnes has impressed ISS scouts with both his play and skills. Coach Eaves (Wisconsin/WCHA) has to be pleased with his future recruit's play as well. Barnes is a skilled player who is also a great opportunist. If he is given the room, he will score. With continued development and attention to small
details, he will continue to elevate is draft position.

FALLING

Brett Cook - Erie (OHL)
Position: LD Height: 6'0 Weight: 193
ISS scouts had high expectations for this left-handed rear guard, who was a member of Team Ontario which won the gold medal at the 2008 World Under 17
Challenge. Cook, who was Erie's third round pick, 42nd overall in 2007 and played last season with Huntsville in the OPJHL, is off to a slow start with the Otters this
season recording no points or penalty minutes in 10 games this season, and has a -10.

Jean Philippe Mathieu - PEI (QMJHL)
Position: RD Height: 5.10 Weight: 160
Small player who lost many 1-on-1 battles due to lack of size or strength. His puck skills are poor and he does not pass the puck well. Used on No. 1 PP unit and
his decision making was poor. He seems to have a pretty good shot when he can get it away.

William Beaudoin - Val d'Or (QMJHL)
Position: LD Height: 6.00 Weight: 195
A lot of hype surrounded for this young defenseman. First-round pick, 15th overall in 2006 QMJHL draft by St. John's. While most of his peers have progressed in many aspects of their respective games, Beaudoin has failed to demonstrate his ability to improve and grow as a player.
