In the second meeting of the season between the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Regina Pats, the pats got off to a quick start. Just 1:05 into the first period, Brett Leffler redirected a Koltyn Miller pass by Tigers netminder Ryan Holfeld for his 8th of the season.

The Tigers had a 5-on-3 power play half-way through the period, but Linden Rowat was solid making a trio of stops before killing the penalties. Before the period was over, Tiger forward Joey Frazer tied the game with 15.1 seconds on the clock sending it to the second tied at 1.

Before the second started, the Pats handed out the Molson Cup three stars for the first segment of the season. Victor Bartley was the third star with 6 points, Jordan Eberle second with 11 and Jordan Weal was the first star with 12 points.

The second got off to a great start as Alex Pym scored his season on a floating shot that eluded a screened Ryan Holfeld (Hood and Favreau with the assists). The period ended on a sour note as defenceman Victor Bartley left with less than 2 minutes left with an apparent pulled groin, but returned later in the third.

The situation got worse for the Pats in the second. While on the power play, Tiger forward Tyler Ennis was sprung on a breakaway and chipped one by goaltender Linden Rowat to tie the game at 2. The shorty was the third in two games given up by the Pats.

In his return to the line-up after missing 17 games to a knee injury, Mitch Czibere scored his first of the season and first as a Regina Pat to give the blue and white the lead half-way through the third period. The scoring was closed out late in the game, as Jordan Weal scored into the empty Tiger net.

The win for the Pats got them back into a first place tie with the Swift Current Broncos, setting up a great battle for top spot in the East Division as the two will meet Sunday night at 7pm.
