The Alberta Junior Hockey League wishes to offer sincere condolences to the family members of a young Calgary player who passed away suddenly while attending the Drayton Valley Thunder Spring Camp in Drayton Valley, Alberta. 15 year-old Michael Gee, a player with the North West Calgary Athletic Association Midget Bruins, passed away last night after collapsing on the ice surface during the Thunder Spring Camp. Gee was one of approximately 100 prospect players invited to the Drayton Valley Spring Camp.
The AJHL League Office wishes to commend the staff of the Drayton Valley Thunder on their remarkable ability to respond to a tragic situation and for their efforts in supporting the family of Michael Gee during this difficult time.
The Drayton Valley Thunder organization is hosting an Information Session today for all parents, players and staff involved in yesterday's tragic event. Grief Counseling and Victim Services Personnel will be available to all those involved.
