Blazers get help http://gdrinnan.blogspot.com/
RW Brady Calla, 20, is on his way back to the Kamloops Blazers. He was reassigned Monday from the Rochester Americans, the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers. Calla, then with the Everett Silvertips, was a third-round pick by the Panthers in the 2006 NHL draft. He had one assist in eight games with the Americans. Last season, Calla had 30 points in 52 games with Kamloops after being acquired in November from the Moose Jaw Warriors for D Keaton Ellerby. . . . Calla’s arrival comes with the Blazers on the sore side. D Kurt Torbohm, C Scott Wasden and RW Kenton Dulle all are nursing injuries. . . . A conditional bantam pick was written into the Calla-for-Ellerby exchange that was made on Nov. 8, 2007. If either player returned to the WHL as a 20-year-old, a fourth-round 2009 draft pick will change hands. So, once Calla suits up – and he is expected to play Wednesday against the visiting Prince George Cougars – the Warriors will be able to put a fourth-rounder in their bank. . . . By the way, Ellerby, the Panther’s first-round pick in 2007, has two assists in 11 games with the Americans, whose leading scorer is former WHLer Kenndal McArdle, with nine points in 16 gam

Calla could take it one of two ways. Pout about being back in the Dub or try and rip it up. Be interesting to see which he decides to do.

Glad the game is on Shaw tonight. Good hockey to watch after watching the Canucks get taken apart by the Rangers.
