Reddick Leads Americans 7-2 Rout of Silvertips

Everett, WA - What started as a typical, tight Tri-City/Everett contest, quickly turned into a barnburner.

Kruise Reddick recorded his first-career hat trick, and goaltender Chet Pickard picked up 27 saves, as the Tri-City Americans (16-7-0-2, 34 pts) wrapped up their four-game road trip with a 7-2 rout of division rivals Everett Silvertips (13-9-3-0, 29 pts) in front of 7,155 fans at Comcast Arena. For Reddick, his hat trick gives him eight goals on the season, seven of which have come in his last eight games. As well, the win marks Tri-City's largest margin of victory at Comcast Arena. Meanwhile, Everett, who lost for just the third time at home all season, sees their four-game winning streak come to an end.

The two teams, who have already played two one-goal games this season, skated to a scoreless tie at the end of the first period. What appeared to be a tight game to start quickly opened up in the second period as the two teams combined for six goals.

Just 3:04 into the second period, Everett struck first, when Dale Hunt knocked in a rebound of a Mike Alexander shot. The lead stood for only five minutes before Reddick registered his first of the night. After his initial shot hit off the left post, Reddick followed up on his own rebound and beat Everett netminder, Kent Simpson, tying the game at 1. Just 17 seconds later, Mitch Fadden followed with a wrap-around goal at the far post, putting Tri-City on top 2-1. But, midway through the contest, and 19 seconds after Fadden's goal, Everett's Shane Harper knotted the game at 2 when he buried a shot over Pickard's right shoulder.

But Tri-City was just getting warmed up. With 5:34 remaining in the period, Justin Feser broke into the Everett zone, but pulled up, waiting for the trailer, Brett Plouffe. Plouffe then blasted a shot from 40 ft, past Simpson, for the eventual game-winning goal. Rookie Brooks Macek capped the scoring in the period when he tallied on a wrap-around shot at the near post and gave Tri-City a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes of play.

A late second-period Everett penalty allowed Tri-City to carry over their power play to start the final period. Then, just eight seconds into the period, Reddick notched goal #2, after a perfect tape-to-tape pass from Plouffe sent him in on Simpson nearly uncontested. Now down 5-2, and midway through the period, Everett coach John Becanic, in a final effort to get his club back in the contest, opted to pull Simpson for the extra attacker. But, after several near-misses over several minutes, Jason Reese hit the empty net with 6:04 remaining in regulation. Then, with 24 seconds remaining in regulation, and with Simpson back in goal, Reddick capped the scoring with his third goal of the night.

Simpson finished the night with 26 saves on 32 shots in the loss, while Pickard stopped 27 of 29 shots he faced. The Americans ended the night 1-for-3 on the power play and a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

With a successful road trip behind them, Tri-City can now look forward to their longest home stand of the season, an eight-game stretch that will take them up to the winter break. Although the scenery will change, the Americans next opponent will not, as the same two teams will meet again on Wednesday, November 26 at Toyota Center in Kennewick. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tri-City will look to win back-to-back home games against the 'Tips for the first time since December of last season. The Americans are a division-best 9-1 at home this season and are 16-8-1-1 all-time at home against Everett. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer outlets, or online at ticketmaster.com (http://ticketmaster.com/).
