The Swift Current Broncos dropped their second game of the weekend with a 4-3 loss to the host Red Deer Rebels on Saturday.
One day after falling 9-7 to the Calgary Hitmen Matt Tassone scored twice and Brad Hoban added a single for the Broncos who lost their fifth consecutive road game and fell to 16-12-0-1 overall.
Tassone, who netted his 13th and 14th goals, is now riding a five-game point streak and has nine points over that streak.
Landon Ferraro, Willie Coetzee, Connor Redmond and Steve Oursov scored to help the Rebels improve to 10-16-0-5.
The two teams entered the third period tied 2-2 but Coetzee counted 53 seconds in followed by Ferraro with only 4:09 remaining in regulation to lift the Rebels to the win.
Mark Guggenberger dropped to 10-9-0-0 with 23 saves on 27shots for the Broncos. Darcy Kuemper improved to 7-9-0-3 with 29 saves on 32 shots.
The Broncos powerplay unit entered the contest connecting at a 19.4 per cent clip but failed to score on four opportunities. The penalty killing unit entered at 84.1 per cent and held Red Deer scoreless on five man-advantage opportunities.
Facing nine of their next 10 games on the road prior to Christmas the Broncos dropped the first two games of that stretch and dropped to 5-7-0-0 overall away from the Credit Union iplex.
Next action for the Broncos will be Wednesday against the Prince Albert Raiders.
