The Moose Jaw Warriors have lost seven straight games. They have lost 11 in a row on the road. They also have fallen into last place in the WHL’s overall standings. And it sounds as though head coach Dave Hunchak is about to explode. “There was no compete, no work ethic,” Hunchak told Matthew Gourlie of the Moose Jaw Times-Herald after an 8-3 loss to the Raiders in Prince Albert on Saturday. “We embarrassed ourselves tonight, no ifs, ands or buts about it.
“Right from guys that have been drafted by National Hockey League teams right down to 16-year-olds. Twenty-year-olds, Europeans, non-Europeans, everybody.”

“Usually we have some bright spots; tonight we had no bright spots. As a group we were terrible. Compete. Show character. Compete. Do something. Get into a fight. Do something. They have to face each other every day. At some point self-pride has got to . . . kick in.
“Let’s call a spade a spade: there are players on our team who don’t get it. They either don’t get it or they aren’t willing to work to figure out what it takes to be a player.”
The Warriors actually held a 2-0 over the Raiders before things fell apart.

JUST NOTES: F Lance Bouma scored the winner Sunday with 3:49 left in the third period as the host Vancouver Giants beat the Chilliwack Bruins 3-2. The Giants led this one 2-0 before the Bruins came back to tie it in the third period. One of Chilliwack’s goals came from F Kevin Sundher on a penalty shot. . . . Jim Riley is reporting in the Seattle Times that the Thunderbirds expect to learn this week exactly when they will play their first game in their new home, the ShoWare Centre in Kent. It is expected to take place either Dec. 27 against the Portland Winter Hawks or Jan. 3 against the Everett Silvertips. . . . The Thunderbirds lost 4-1 to the visiting Calgary Hitmen on Sunday in what may have been Seattle’s last home game in KeyArena. . . . Calgary F Brett Sonne, who leads the WHL with 51 points, had two goals and an assist. He now has 20 goals on the season. . . . Seattle was without F Prab Rai (leg) and F Lindsay Nielsen (shoulder). Rai, the Thunderbirds’ leading scorer, has missed two games, while Nielsen has sat out five. . . . The Regina Pats doubled the Rebels 4-2 in Red Deer but lost RW Jordan Eberle, their leading scorer, with a hip flexor early in the third period. Eberle, who is to be re-evaluated Monday, is scheduled to leave Wednesday for Canada’s national junior team’s selection camp in Ottawa and Gatineau. . . . Regina got two goals from F Brett Leffler and Eberle scored his 23rd of the season, one off the league lead. LW Jamie Benn of the Kelowna Rockets holds the lead with 23. . . . Regina ended its eight-game road swing at 3-5-0-0.
