Alex Plante - This kid is very special he is playing like a good 19year old. If he keeps playing at this level this 15year old is going to be one hell of a player. He is a +4
Justin Falk - I think we are going to see Falk again tonight; he played very solid in Brandon.
Karl Alzner - is a +8 as a rookie
Pogge stopped 28 shots

In the regular season, the Hitmen had a league-leading 10,062 fans, which has only increased in the post-season. "Guys are feeling a lot more comfortable in this barn", stated Hitmen forward Andrew Ladd. "When you get the fans behind you like they are, it's a lot more exciting to play here." Three minutes into the second period, Pushkarev gave the Hitmen a 2-1 lead when he roofed a shot over a sprawling Plante. In the third, the Hitmen didn't revert into a defensive shell to protect the lead, instead continuing to apply pressure. The tactic paid off when Getzlaf fired a drop pass from Landolt past Plante to give Calgary some insurance.

The Calgary Hitmen's season-long slogan has been: It's Played on Our Terms. Last night, it was. After two offensively charged games in Brandon in which the teams combined for 11 and six goals, the Hitmen were able to play their style. Game 4 goes tonight at the 'Dome (7 p.m., The Fan 960, Shaw TV).
The Hitmen outshot Brandon 31-29 last night.

To steal a phrase from Bob Cole: "Oh, baby!" We have ourselves a series. After a couple of blowouts in Manitoba, the Calgary Hitmen and Brandon heat Kings are finally in tune enough to make it a real WHL post-season party.
We have bone-crushing hits.
We have line matchups and tighter checking.
We have intensity.
And, finally -- it took nearly 180 minutes of action -- we have some hatred.
Old-fashioned, playoff hockey hatred.
Cue the Slap Shot gang: "Old-time hockey! Eddie Shore!"

Ryan Stone is a Calgarian but the Saddledome doesn't make him feel at dome. During his WHL career, the Brandon Wheat Kings sniper has scored just one goal in six Saddledome appearances, including last night's 3-1 loss in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal. Stone, who had no shots on goal last night, shrugged when asked about his production in the Hitmen's rink. Stone was booed heartily late in the third period after he rocked Hitmen rearguard Brett Carson with a shoulder. Carson, who has a history of concussions, crumpled to the ice and lay motionless for a several minutes before getting to his feet and making his way back to the bench. Not only was the 20-year-old Stone a target of jeers by the 15,100 in attendance, he became a marked man in the eyes of the Hitmen players, who went after him near the end of the game, causing a major brouhaha.

Karl Alzner marched out of the Calgary Hitmen dressing room. At least, it was probably Alzner. Tough to tell with that jumbo ice bag draped over the side of his face. "See this?" said Alzner, pulling back the sweaty hank of hair hanging over his right eye. "I got gouged." Sure enough, around the start of a big-league shiner was a road map of scrapes and abrasions.

The sea of black could still use some work, but energized Calgary Hitmen fans filled the Saddledome to shout, stomp and cheer their team into a 2-1 series lead in the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs Tuesday night.
The Hitmen beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1 in front of 15,139 faithful fans at the 'Dome, and while the action often strayed between dull defence and frenzied offence, the fans' support never wavered.

The bile is building. The dislike festering. Yes, the kettle is very much on the boil. "It's fun out there,'' announced Calgary Hitmen captain Ryan Getzlaf, outfitted, quite symbolically, in a marine fatigue top. "Hockey's a rough sport. You want to play in situations like this. Gets the blood flowing.''
Beautiful.
