The Swift Current Broncos got a hat trick from Keegan Dansereau and did exactly what was needed to blank the visiting Hurricanes 6-0 on Saturday.

-how about Keegan Dansereau? His shot was just lethal tonight again....including the second goal of the game, a powerplay marker which he scored from a virtually impossible angle.

-Cody Eakin got back on the scoresheet with two goals and had a strong game. Eakin was a +3.

-the Broncos pounced on a down and out Lethbridge team early on, and really never looked back. I believe that exactly was the game plan.

-the visitors, coming in having played the past two nights and three out of the past four, were no doubt tired. The 'Canes also look a lot less dangerous with the absence of Zach Boychuk, who is their undisputed sniper and currently helping Team Canada at the WJHC. (Although he is injured.)

-the defense was really good tonight and kept things clear in front of Travis Yonkman. Derek Claffey was a powerful and physical presence to help that cause. Joel Rogers also quietly had a strong night, as did Eric Doyle. Andrew Hewett stepped right in and had a great game as well.

-Lethbridge is missing their top goalie Juha Metsola who's with Finland at the WJHC, and thus utilized two young goalies on this road trip. Although the chances of stopping the hot Bronco offense were slim tonight, both goalies looked rather dull.

-Travis Yonkman got the goose egg in goal for Swift Current. Yonks got some great help from his defence as aforementioned, and did a great job of holding the fort.

The Broncos got back on track with this win, but can't be flying too high after letting one slip last night versus Medicine Hat. The Tigers looked so beatable, and the Broncos took 11 minutes or so off in that game, and bang...bang...they were climbing uphill. It is a cosolation however, that they beat Lethbridge so soundly one night after.

A workman-like effort will be required versus Brandon this Tuesday. It looks like the Wheaties are firing on all cylinders lately.

LET'S GO SWIFTY!!!

NOTES:

-the trade deadline is drawing steadily closer....

-"Why didn't you post a game recap yesterday?" one reader questioned tonight at the game. "You pick your spots, don't you?" I will agree that it's much tougher to post after a loss. The real reason was me checking out the new casino until 12 AM, which by the way looks spectacular inside and out.

-most fans cheered louder than ever at tonight's game...not for the Broncos, but rather Team Canada as they won in the shootout over the Russians. I have a feeling that telecast caused a few empty seats. Attendance was still exceptional at 2098.

-excuse me as I watch the last few minutes of a 4-1 Dallas Stars loss in Edmonton. It's a rarity that the Stars lose to the Oilers.....they were flat early, got no help from Marty Turco, and came hard in the final two periods to outshoot Edmonton 33-19. But that was about it. I guess fat guys like Dustin Penner and no-namers like Eric Cole decide to wake up in Edmonton when Dallas comes to town.

I'm out....

For the most part we had a full lineup too (minus Christian Magnus as he was at under 17) but Hurricans dressed only 15 I believe including only 5 dmen but regardless the Broncos played well and a win is a win.

Well, I guess being "fat" and "no-name" is better than "dressing room cancer" and "intern with a fancy title".

I agree with both of those as far as Sean Avery and Brett Hull are concerned.

Never have been a fan of either one. :)

Toulmin was a healthy scratch last night, interesting as they only had 11 forwards. I dont mind the 11 forwards for stretches as it gives a bit more ice time for some forwards that are having a good game. I agree Ern the Hat game slipped away, the Broncos had the ability that night to beat them, if they played any way near like they did the previous week. I think the team on a whole is playing quite well in all areas now and can give any team a run for there money. A little better transition play from d to forwards and the goal scoring and play in the o-zone will increase. It will be interesting if they can add a puck moving dman or top 6 forward, tough as every team is looking for that. The Brandon game should be good on Tuesday then a real tough 3 game roadie on the weekend.

11 minutes off against the tigers? I'd say more like 30 or 40 and didn't improve a whole lot the rest of the way. No defense helping Guggs out, giving the puck away constantly in their own end, and couldn't hit or make a pass all night. Very poor game IMO. Can't say much about last nights game, I was one of the many that stayed home because of the cold and to watch a good, exciting hockey game.
