Brent Sutter on his way back to Red Deer?

Numerous places this weekend started reporting that Brent Sutter may be on his way back to Red Deer, either at the conclusion of this season, or for the 2010-2011 Season. The rumor goes on to say he would take over the GM role, but Jessie Wallin would remain Head Coach. I have heard numerous places that Sutter watches all the Rebels games via the webcast, and has communication with the front office and coaching staff on a Daily basis, so obvioulsy his interest in the team has not gone away.

I haven't seen anything more than speculation that mentions him coming back here, just more of a uncertainty about his future in New Jersey. He has kept a team that has both gotten younger this season (and been without the services of the team's best player in Martin Brodeur) in the top 4 or 5 teams in the NHL. One would think that any decision he makes would be one that he feels is in the best interest of himself and his family--as he has already established himself as a good NHL coach.

I can't see him staying down there any longer. Brandon is out on his own and family far away is hard. The Rebels are his retirement and looking after them would be a higher priority than the Devils. Besides, living in New Jersey would make anybody want to go home.

Once the kids are all grown up, Mrs S. can move to Jersey for the season. Maybe in 5 or 6 years he'll return, but the future looks pretty bright in NJ.
