There is so much media coverage when these two teams meet up, it's really tough to come up with a point that someone hasn't mentioned yet!
So tonight's recap will feature links to certain views of the game from the perspective of the Regina media gurus....and even one link to the recap on the Broncos' website.
That of course WILL be followed by a few of my comments...but just a few. The Rep ripped hell-bent-for-leather on the drive home from Regina, but still...we arrived at home around 1 AM with a workday coming up tomorrow....
So here goes:
-the game from Greg Harder's (Leader Post) point of view:

-this one talks more about the current situation of the "hapless Pats," and their general manager's thoughts. Here are game thoughts from the always interesting Rob Vanstone's perspective:

-the Broncos' website view on the game:

-yet another post from Greg Harder...this time on his personal blog:

All these sources should give one quite the idea of what happened in the game! But of course I have a couple tidbits to add....
-the Broncos certainly did not make things easier on themselves by allowing Regina to claw back on two occasions....the Pats twice made it a one-goal contest, capitalizing on what were a few stretches of rather lacklustre play on the part of the visitors.
-Keegan Dansereau was an absolute treat to watch tonight. Put three goals beside his name and you'll know the story....
-Cody Eakin uncharacteristically turned the puck over twice late in the third period....the Pats made good on the second giveaway as Matt Streuby made the Broncos pay.....the score became 4-3 at that point. Eakin would later redeem himself in a big way however, by scoring what was perhaps the most important goal for the Broncos. Eakin outworked two Pat defenders, got in on a breakaway, and made the score 5-3 to sink Regina late in the game. So in the end, he came up large.
-Ryan Molle had an exceptional game.
-Travis Yonkman was solid behind the Bronco D.
-Johnny Negrin was back from injury and played extremely well, while Eric Doyle was his usual steady self. Doyle even mixed it up and got the gloves up with Brett Leffler who crashed into Travis Yonkman.
-Joel Rogers was a well-deserved +3.
-Dansereau may have scored three times but for the most part it was a team effort. The Broncos capitalized on their good scoring chances.
-Jan Dalecky worked very hard.
-the work of the Broncos' young guys up front...Taylor Vause, Dillon Wagner, and Jordan Peddle really adds up night after night.
-Pats fans were all over Colten Teubert, who gave the puck right to Geordie Wudrick for his 3-1 goal in the second period. According to Pats' fans sitting in my section, that has become a regularity with Teubert.
-the Pats look very VERY fragile these days. Nothing is seemingly working for them, not even Head Coach Dale Derkatch yelling his voice hoarse on the bench, and Brent Parker being "at loss for words."
-this was a great win for the Broncos, who as SouthWest Booster's Steven Mah told me in Regina before the game, "Had to jump on this squad that's down and out."
...............
The Broncos will need a good effort in PA come this Friday night. The Raiders have remained in the mix for those final two or three playoff spots and will no doubt be looking to pad that point total to assure their playoff berth. Secondly, they will likely have some great forward momentum after beating the Tigers 6-5 in OT at home tonight, outscoring Medicine Hat 3-1 in the third period for a big comeback.
And for me, that trip to PA may just be a possibility! We'll see when Friday rolls around....
LET'S GO SWIFTY!!!
