There is so much media coverage when these two teams meet up, it's really tough to come up with a point that someone hasn't mentioned yet!

So tonight's recap will feature links to certain views of the game from the perspective of the Regina media gurus....and even one link to the recap on the Broncos' website.

That of course WILL be followed by a few of my comments...but just a few. The Rep ripped hell-bent-for-leather on the drive home from Regina, but still...we arrived at home around 1 AM with a workday coming up tomorrow....

So here goes:

-the game from Greg Harder's (Leader Post) point of view:

http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/hockey/pats-hockey/Fifth+straight+loss+Pats/1279479/story.html

-this one talks more about the current situation of the "hapless Pats," and their general manager's thoughts. Here are game thoughts from the always interesting Rob Vanstone's perspective:

http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/hockey/pats-hockey/VANSTONE+Another+painful+loss+Pats/1279475/story.html

-the Broncos' website view on the game:

http://www.scbroncos.com/news/877/

-yet another post from Greg Harder...this time on his personal blog:

http://communities.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/blogs/slapshots/default.aspx

All these sources should give one quite the idea of what happened in the game! But of course I have a couple tidbits to add....

-the Broncos certainly did not make things easier on themselves by allowing Regina to claw back on two occasions....the Pats twice made it a one-goal contest, capitalizing on what were a few stretches of rather lacklustre play on the part of the visitors.

-Keegan Dansereau was an absolute treat to watch tonight. Put three goals beside his name and you'll know the story....

-Cody Eakin uncharacteristically turned the puck over twice late in the third period....the Pats made good on the second giveaway as Matt Streuby made the Broncos pay.....the score became 4-3 at that point. Eakin would later redeem himself in a big way however, by scoring what was perhaps the most important goal for the Broncos. Eakin outworked two Pat defenders, got in on a breakaway, and made the score 5-3 to sink Regina late in the game. So in the end, he came up large.

-Ryan Molle had an exceptional game.

-Travis Yonkman was solid behind the Bronco D.

-Johnny Negrin was back from injury and played extremely well, while Eric Doyle was his usual steady self. Doyle even mixed it up and got the gloves up with Brett Leffler who crashed into Travis Yonkman.

-Joel Rogers was a well-deserved +3.

-Dansereau may have scored three times but for the most part it was a team effort. The Broncos capitalized on their good scoring chances.

-Jan Dalecky worked very hard.

-the work of the Broncos' young guys up front...Taylor Vause, Dillon Wagner, and Jordan Peddle really adds up night after night.

-Pats fans were all over Colten Teubert, who gave the puck right to Geordie Wudrick for his 3-1 goal in the second period. According to Pats' fans sitting in my section, that has become a regularity with Teubert.

-the Pats look very VERY fragile these days. Nothing is seemingly working for them, not even Head Coach Dale Derkatch yelling his voice hoarse on the bench, and Brent Parker being "at loss for words."

-this was a great win for the Broncos, who as SouthWest Booster's Steven Mah told me in Regina before the game, "Had to jump on this squad that's down and out."

...............

The Broncos will need a good effort in PA come this Friday night. The Raiders have remained in the mix for those final two or three playoff spots and will no doubt be looking to pad that point total to assure their playoff berth. Secondly, they will likely have some great forward momentum after beating the Tigers 6-5 in OT at home tonight, outscoring Medicine Hat 3-1 in the third period for a big comeback.

And for me, that trip to PA may just be a possibility! We'll see when Friday rolls around....

LET'S GO SWIFTY!!!

Funny how you can see all the details of the game yet not open your eyes to see the thread already started below. C'mon be a team player.

Observer the last time i looked in any paper there is hype about the pregame & then there is talk about the postgame. In your comments not anywhere do i see it that thread anybody giving a postgame recap.
BigErn works his ass off for us & then you have to throw a comment like that, give your head a shake. BIGERN keep up the great work. It amazes me that something that small in life would bother a person.

I too look for the recaps. I may not agree with you at times and sometimes criticize but look for them after every game. Being in their own thread makes them easier to find. :thumb:

Ointhe creek... enough already. Stop sticking pins in your Brent Parker voodoo doll. The Pats have suffered since last spring's playoff exit. These kids on the Pats can't handle your black magic and 6,000 fans at last nights game deserve better... lol

Never! LOL. Might be doing the Pats a favor, maybe rid you of Parker, hmmmm, maybe I should rethink this... :skeptical

i am glad as well to see dudas was -3 as well. i was proud to have an oiler draft pick on the broncos roster but his arrogance is not missed here at all. how many teams has he played on now...4? good ridance. broncos will have home ice advantage in the post season and dudas can watch it from home cause reginas season is almost over, lmao! yeehoo

The Broncos won their 3rd straight game and in the process handed the rival Regina Pats their 5th straight loss last night at the Brandt Center.

A lot of talk about how "fragile" the Pats have been as of late. It's words even Head Coach Dale Derkatch used in our pre-game show to describe his club. From my perspective they didn't appear that way for the most part. I thought they stuck to a game plan which was to play physical and finish every check and did a good job of it.

They had just too many defensive breakdowns... so if you want to call that fragile so be it.

The one Colton Teubert gaffe where he served up the puck to Geordie Wudrick for the Broncos third goal in was as devastating a turnover I've seen all year long.

Keegan Dansereau's three goals led the way while Michael Stickland, Geordie Wudrick and Cody Eakin all scored very timely goals.

Jesse Dudas was a -3 in his first game against his former mates. We chatted briefly before the game. He says his experience in Regina has been good. He's happy with his ice-time in which he referred to as being on the ice for "the entire two minute powerplay" at times.

On the ice, it appeared he was going out of his way to play physical against his old club.

Afterwards he was spotted chatting it up with several of his former teammates under the stands at the Brandt Center. He shared a hug with Broncos F Keegan Dansereau before returning back into the Pats dressing room.

The Broncos were all smiles after this one.

"I think our line (Dansereau, Dowling, Tassone) was clicking tonight. We haven't been together for a few games and we wanted to show Deano (Broncos Head Coach / GM Dean Chynoweth) that we want to stay together." - Dansereau

"We have a great belief in our dressing room right now. We know we are going to go out and win games." - Wudrick

As for the turnover served up from World Junior defenseman Colton Teubert which lead to the Broncos 3rd goal, Wudrick couldn't believe his luck.

"I was pressuring him hard down the ice... it was almost like he passed it to me for the breakaway. I got lucky there and got lucky to score on Rowat."

After the game the two were seen having a good chat. They are both L.A. Kings draft picks and went 1-2 in the WHL bantam draft back in 2005.

The Broncos will now try and do the Pats a favour tomorrow night by winning in Prince Albert against the Raiders. The Raiders rallied back to defeat Medicine Hat 6-5 in OT to move two points ahead of Edmonton and four points ahead of Regina for the final playoff spot.

--------------

Interesting former Broncos note. Dale Weise is now calling Sean Avery a teammate in Hartford with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.

Avery was assigned there by the Dallas Stars. It's where Weise is spending his first season of pro-hockey.

In a short chat today Weise informs me that Avery has been "awesome" and a "great guy" so far. In fact, Avery took a few members of the Wolf Pack out for supper last night.

Talk at you tomorrow....
