The Swift Current Broncos scored on the bulk of their chances and ended up running away with the game in the third frame, beating the hometown Raiders by a lopsided 9-1 score on Friday night.

-the Broncos keep getting the job done these days....this was their third straight win on the road, and fourth win overall. Are they gelling at the right time?

-the DDT line was a huge factor again. Matt Tassone, Justin Dowling, and Keegan Dansereau have completely regained their stride and combined for a spectacular 11 points tonight....that included Matt Tassone's five point night with four goals and one assist.

-to put things mildly, the PA Raiders were behind from the get-go, and were never really able to gain their footing in this game.....they DID manage to tie the score at 1-1 with Dustin Cameron's goal at 15:57...but were only in the game at that point due to the stellar play of G Garrett Zemlak, who stopped 16 of 18 Swift Current shots in the first period.

-Travis Yonkman once again got the start and was solid when needed. He quietly had a good game, stopping 25 PA shots.

-Cody Eakin was sensational again, scoring the game's first goal and adding two assists. One can always count on Cody for his work ethic and he is as Dean Chynoweth says, "a special player."

-Johnny Negrin has become a pillar on the back end for the Broncos. He along with Ryan Molle and the rest of the Broncos' defense have played extremely well in this late stretch of success.

-let's throw a bone to Spencer McAvoy, who scored the last goal of the game. Mac's name seldom comes up due in part to him not being too flashy a player. Instead, he is very reliable back there and does a lot of little things right. He drew a sparkling +4 tonight.

-for the PA Raiders it was definitely Friday the 13th...little went their way...especially in the third frame. Perhaps the killer was the Taylor Vause goal at 19:42 of the second period. The goal happened very quickly, put the Broncos up 4-1 and seemed to catch the Raiders completely by surprise. And as the red light kept coming on repeatedly behind Garrett Zemlak thorugh the last 20 minutes, one at times wondered where the home team had gone.

-Jordan Peddle dropped the gloves and had a tilt with Garrett Thiessen at 3:51 of the third period.

-the Broncos won the 8-game season series with a record of 6-1-1.

-Swift Current went 2 for 5 on the powerplay, getting man advantage markers from Matt Tassone and Geordie Wudrick.

-Head Coach/GM Dean Chynoweth was all alone behind the visitor's bench tonight. Asst. Coach Tim Kehler is in Mexico for a week. The big win was a credit to Chynoweth, who has his team sitting in the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference.

The Broncos' focus now will be on beating a great Saskatoon team tomorrow for the second time in one week. Swift Current leads the season series 4-3, but will have to be at their best to knock off the East Division leaders who are coming off their lacklustre 7-1 setback at the Medicine Hat Arena tonight.

One thing is certain...it's a game that you won't wanna miss.

LET'S GO SWIFTY!!!

EXTRAS:

-interesting happenings in Moose Jaw tonight? Regina GM Brent Parker got handed a game misconduct after the second period....not sure what for. The Pats lost their sixth game in a row to the Moose Jaw Warriors, who sit at the bottom of the conference.

-and just for a little fun...to an active user of the forum who I KNOW will be reading this eventually and had the time to beak me via text message before today's Dallas/Vancouver matchup...... How about the Stars playing a Stars style game and taking down the Canucks 2-1 in Dallas tonight? ;)

Happy VALENTINE'S DAY!

Not much love for the Stars around Ern. Good thing Loungo didn't get the start or you would be kicking doors and what not! lol.
Did you make the trip to PA last night? How about a recap on the fight from your point of view? Should be a good one tonight at the IPlex!
