Uh, whats the deal with this? Us season ticket holders THIS YEAR? Dont get to renew ours now?
The process of purchasing tickets for the 2010 Memorial Cup in underway.
The concept remains virtually unchanged from last fall -- Wheat Kings' season ticket holders for the 2009-2010 season will get first crack at the Memorial Cup packages.
However, the hockey club has now put their season tickets for next season on sale.
"We want to give our existing season ticket holders the full benefit of having the right to purchase a Memorial Cup package," says Wheat Kings' GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon, "We want to have the process where people can purchase new tickets be as long as possible, so that"s why our tickets are on sale now."
The first 3,302 season ticket holders will be guaranteed their season for the Memorial Cup with 1,800 seats being held back for Canadian Hockey League commitment until at least next March or April.
Meanwhile, the Wheat Kings also announced today that a 2009-2010 season ticket will cost $325 for adults annd $175 for youth (18 & under).
"Just over nine dollars per game, so right around half price and easily $100 less than any other market in the Canadian Hockey League," says McCrimmon, "Probably, a year where we could have charged anything we wanted for season tickets or what is the going rate in the WHL."
Single game tickets are also increased by one dollar across the board next season to $16 for Adults, $13 for Seniors and Gen X, $11 for Youth and $7 for Children.
