Here's a link to a video of Rockets 2007 1st round (2nd overall) pick Luke Moffat:

It would be nice to see both McColgan and Moffat in the Rockets line-up next year. I know McColgan is coming to Kelowna, but any news about Moffat?

I dont think his season is quite over so he may join us in the playoffs sometime.

Luke Moffat is playing for the US hockey Development Program Under 17 team and is committed to University of Michigan.

Here is the link

Here are his stats so far - he is currently 8th on the team in scoring.

Luke Moffatt 52 19 14 33 28 2 1 2 0.63

I know the Rockets are still pursuing him to come to Kelowna. If he is coming i would expect him to show up next year for training camp. If doesnt come to camp i would say its a done deal.

Dang, that hurts to spend a 1st round pick like that. Moffatt was always iffy on coming to the WHL. I recall at the time Portland had the 1st pick and Moffatt made it clear he wasn't interested. I think the Rockets would have been better served picking a 1st rounder that expressed committment to the WHL. In that draft year, Brett Connolly of PG comes to mind.

By Regan Bartel:
Mikael Backlund played 28 regular season games with the Rockets this season. Was it worth the pick in the 2007 CHL European Draft? Maybe I should ask that question after the playoffs?
Would you take Luke Moffatt for one season if he decided to join the Rockets after being drafted by an NHL team - as per Chuck Kobasew?
My opinion is landing a player like Backlund, even for a short period, was worth rolling the dice. Even when he plays a quiet game, he continuely is on the mind of the opposition as a scoring threat. Outside of his point totals, Backlund's presence and influence on his teammates is of great value.
