Well the opponent has finally been decided and the Hitmen will now prepare to face the Oil Kings. The Hitmen won the season series 5-1, the only loss to the O'Kings was the first game of the season. The Hitmen outscored the Kings 35-11 or something like that in 6 meetings this year. The series will follow a 2-3-2 format.

What are your predictions?

Hitmen in 4.

Your supposed to pick the winner and the number of games, not the loser!

Just want to extend a good luck to the Hitmen and their fans on the upcoming series and beyond that.

I have a feeling we'll take one game where Jung steals the show stopping like 45 of 47 one night, but this is Calgary's series to lose. We're here for experience for the future. I'll be making the trip for Games 1 and 2, and hopefully I can get out of Calgary alive.

Time will tell, interesting you went with Kelowna although they were the hottest team in the league in the last 10 games. I am still thinking TC might come out of the west to pull an upset over Vancouver and play the hitmen in final.

any idea why the Hitmen series is the only 2-3-2 format in the first round? especially when Edmonton and Calgary are only three hours apart?

I personally hate this format and think it gives the away team a big advantage. In this series it shouldn't make a difference as the Hitmen are so strong at home, but in close series it can prove to be a problem for the team ahead in the standings.

Here is the season series recap between these two teams.

Season Series: 5-1 Hitmen
Total Goals: 31-11 Hitmen
Oil King Leading Scorer: Breitkruez, Dowd, and Van de Mosselaer with 5 points each.
Hitmen Leading Scorer: Sonne, Postma, and Bortis with 10 points each.
GAA: EDM-Jung 5.02, CAL-Jones 1.50
Save%: EDM-Jung 0.836%, CAL-Jones 0.923%
I used both starting goalies stats rather than the leaders.

It is interesting to note that the only win by the Oil Kings was with Dalyn Flette in goal, the Hitmen tender that night was Dan Spence.

The Oil Kings are going to really have to clog up the neutral zone to stop the Hitmen attack, Jung will have to steal the series for the Oil Kings if they want to advance, better yet, Jung will have to steal a game if the O'Kings are going to win one game in the series. It could be a very ugly series score wise. I say Hitmen in 4.
