Note: This is what you call PDA blogging. I'm riding the fan bus home, or as some call it, "the iron lung," so tonight's recap might be brief.....

....

On a 4-point night from Michael Stickland, a 3-point game from Justin Dowling and a generally great effort from their veterans on both forward and defense, the Broncos did the damage in a 3-goal second period and took out the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 at the Medicine Hat Arena Tuesday night. The win immediately stole back home ice advantage for the Broncos and gave them a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

-the Broncos fended off the few expected early chances for Medicine Hat...aided by the goalpost and in part due to G Travis Yonkman, who bounced back from game two with a stellar 26-save performance tonight.

-after the opening flurry was over, the visitors jumped right on the Tigers and started making good on opportunities. The first goal was scored on a delayed penalty by Justin Dowling. Dowling powered to the net and forced the puck behind Holfeld for the 1-0 lead. It was the first game of the series in which the Broncos struck first on the scoreboard. They never seemed to look back from there.

-the four main veterans on defense...the Negrins, Doyles, Claffeys and McAvoys really had a strong outing tonight. John Negrin was the exact player the Broncos need him to be. Be it offense, defense, or keeping pucks in at the blue line, the Broncos' main rearguards asserted a thorough effort tonight.

-the Tigers were shorthanded seven times during this game. That stat did not help their cause....Swift Current really did a good job on the powerplay led mostly by their point men and managed to strike twice with the extra man. The Tigers also had a considerably harder time entering the offensive zone than the first two games in Swift Current. The Broncos didn't back up as much and challenged more, forcing Medicine Hat to make some mistakes while trying to pass the puck.

-Tyler Ennis scored in the second period for Medicine Hat and Zdenek Okal added their second tally late in the third on a net-front scrum. Medicine Hat's Colton Grant had a chance on a late penalty shot to get his team within one, but was stopped short by Yonkman.

-for the Broncos, Dowling scored two goals while Taylor Vause, John Negrin, and Micheal Stickland added singles.

So a very complete effort got desired results for the Swift Current Broncos.

Wednesday's game just got bigger...the Broncos will likely face a different animal tomorrow as they try to take a 2-game lead in the series. The Tigers fell short tonight in a few areas and will certainly be looking for redemption....much like the Broncos did from game two to game three.

It will be another fun trip to make on the fan bus.

LET'S GO SWIFTY!!!

EXTRAS

-Dean Chynoweth had big time issues with the Tigers' first goal. The play was offside by approximately two feet on the Tigers' zone entrance.

-the 50 Bronco fans who made the trip via the fan bus were parked behind the Bronco bench and made a great amount of noise tonight. They were aided by Swift Current fans scattered throughout the building who made the trip by car.

-Tiger fans responded by making a lot of their own noise, but really quieted down as the game got out of reach. A considerable number of them left the building at the 10-minute mark of the third frame.

-riding to and from the game on this bus is fun...Sun West's main man Cliff is our driver and has provided a tremendously smooth ride so far. I should mention Sun West just recently bought a newer grey-cloured bus....and that's the one we're on tonight. The ride has been superb.

-I should also mention that the low price of $50 to get to the 'Hat on this rig is cheaper than what it would cost with one's own vehicle. The price of course includes pizza, a game ticket, and for me, the added bonus of blogging while on the way home. :)

I'm out...CIAO.
