Tonight, (March 27, 2009) marked the pro debut of 18-year-old Jordan Eberle, who signed an NHL Entry Level contract with the Edmonton Oilers earlier in the week and practiced with the Falcons on Friday morning.

Eberle was drafted by the Oilers in the first round (22nd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and he recently completed his third season of junior hockey with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. The 5-foot-10, 181-pound center from Regina, Saskatchewan led the Pats in scoring with 35-39-74 in 61 games. Eberle became a Canadian hockey hero at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa, Ontario, when he scored the tying goal in Canada’s 6-5 OT win over Russia in the tournament semi-final. Eberle, who finished third on the Team Canada scoring list with 6-7-13 in six games, tied the game with five seconds remaining in regulation and after a scoreless overtime, he was one of two Canadians to score in the shootout as Canada earned the semi-final victory and advanced to the gold medal final where they defeated Sweden.

The Falcons not only welcomed Eberle to their roster this week, but they also recalled big 6-foot-6 defenseman Milan Maslonka from Dayton of the ECHL. Maslonka participated in the 2008 Falcons training camp before he started the season with Springfield's ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder. Both forward Cory Urquhart and defenseman Cleve Kinley played for Stockton on Tuesday before being recalled by the Falcons again on Wednesday.

For the 9 games - Jordan's line showed as follows: #32 Ryan Stone (LW), #17 Ryan Potulny, #26 Jordan Eberle (RW)

While rookie Jordan Eberle scored the final goal for the Falcons in 2008-09 season. The 18-year-old Eberle finished with three goals and six assists for nine points in nine games with Springfield. His stats are as follows:

Jordan EBERLE - Games Played: 9, Goals: 3, Assists: 6, Points: 9, Plus/Minus: -5, PIM: 4

Springfield Falcons finished in (7th), last place in the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference of the (AHL) American Hockey League, with 59 points, 20 points behind (6th) place Lowell.

QUESTION: Jordan Eberle got 9 points in 9 games with a last place team in the AHL, finishing 23rd in the team scoring out of 47 players that played with the team that season. Will JORDAN EBERLE return to the Regina Pats this coming season? The above is about Jordan Eberle, not Ryan STONE.

Ryan Stone didn't play 8 games with Edmonton. He played them with Pittsburgh and thats been over the course of 3 seasons. And he only appeared in 39 games for Springfield this season as he was traded at the mid way point of the season.

Absolutely NOT!! I dont even know how you got that idea? Im just saying he was traded to Edmonton earlier in the year. Its got nothing to do with him being a bust or not. I personally think the trade to Edmonton is a great thing for Stone and will get a much better chance than he did in Pittsburgh. He just never got a legit shot there, they are way to deap!
