Cinicinnati Mighty Ducks general manager Chuck Fletcher announced today that the American Hockey League club has signed center Ryan Getzlaf from the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League to an amateur tryout contract.

Getzlaf, 19, was selected by Anaheim in the first round (19th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 51 games this season, the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder had 29 goals and 25 assists with 102 penalty minutes and a plus-22 rating. The native of Regina, Sask., appeared in 12 playoff games with Calgary, recording four goals and 13 assists with 18 penalty minutes.

Getzlaf, who won gold with Canada at the 2005 World Junior Championships, will be available to make his professional debut tonight when the Ducks face the Milwaukee Admirals in Game 3 of the best-of-seven West Division semifinals.

This is great news for Ryan Getzlaf. He did manage to get into the Cincinnati playoff game last night. He did not get any points or penalties but he did manage one shot on goal. Congrats again to Ryan.
