The Broncos have a new trainer/equipment manager....at least for the time being.

Sources have indicated that Swift Current resident Jamie LeBlanc will step in and temporarily fill the void left by trainer Paul Ayotte. After four seasons with Swift Current, Ayotte moved up the ladder last week to the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

LeBlanc is not new to the job....or to the Broncos for that matter. He has eight years of experience as trainer/equipment manager in major junior hockey. He worked with the OHL's Brampton Batallion from 1997-2001. The Brampton tenure included a role with Team Canada at the 2000 World Junior Hockey Championship. From there, LeBlanc moved to Swift Current and held the position with the Broncos up to the 2004-05 season. Most recently, LeBlanc was the trainer for the Swift Current 'AAA' Legionnaires, and held a managerial position at BodyFit Fitness Lounge in Swift Current, a franchise owned and operated by his family.

You have to think the Broncos were in a tight spot being without a trainer/equipment manager with training camp coming up in less than a week, and were lucky to have an experienced guy like LeBlanc at hand to reach for in the situation.

Will they hire a new permanent guy down the line, or could this be LeBlanc's way back to a permanent position in major junior hockey?

Time will tell....

Jamie is a great guy and very qualified for the job. Hopefully he stays with the team. Welcome back Jamie.
