Everett, WA - Everett Silvertips Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert announced Wednesday that the Silvertips have signed the 29th overall selection of the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, forward Jari Erricson of Prince George, British Columbia, to a WHL Educational Contract.

Erricson, 15, was selected by the Silvertips in the second round of this years WHL Bantam Draft. The 5'10, 161 pound forward spent the 2008-09 season with the Kelowna-based Pursuit of Excellence AAA bantam team, where he totaled 18 goals, 10 assists and 28 points in 21 games. Earlier this year, he earned a spot on Team B.C.'s U-16 team for the upcoming inaugural Western Branch Challenge tournament, held in Red Deer, Alberta, from October 28th through November 1st.

"We're happy for Jari and his family that he has decided to sign a Western Hockey League Educational Contract and become part of the Everett Silvertips organization," Soetaert said. "He is an exciting young player with explosive speed that likes to take the puck to the net, and we know that he is preparing himself to come in next season to make our hockey club."
