Tips Record: 5-2-0-0

This Tips played a fundamentally sound game last night versus the T-Birds and came away with a 3-1 win. They outshot the birds 42-22 & played pretty good defense.

The power play is still a source of concern this season having converted eight of 38 chances, good for middle of the pack in the WHL. The bigger concern, however is the penalty kill. the Tips are 21st in the league having allowed nine of 35 chances, letting in a goal roughly one out of every four times on the PK. This has to improve...especially tonight as Kelowna is third in the wHL on the power play.

This will be the key to the game tonight. The 3rd best PP team against the 2nd worst penalty kill. If the Tips can stay out of the box or kill off the penalties, they will win.

After trailing by two goals twice and giving up 9 power plays and a penalty sot in the first two periods, the Tips score two goals in the third period to win 5-4. The Tips played a pretty good game at even strength and kept the puck in their offensive zone, but they just couldn't stay out of the box.

the penalties were all penalties, just seemed like the refs called this one a little tighter than we're used to.

This was a good road win in Kelowna. Any time you can skate away from there with 2 points, you take it.
