Vancouver BC – Vancouver Giants General Manager Scott Bonner today announced that the Giants have acquired 17 year old LW Connor Redmond from the Red Deer Rebels in a one for one trade. The Giants get the Maple Ridge BC product in return for LW Lane Scheidl.



Redmond (May 3 1992) is 6’1’’ and 180 pounds, and has 2 assists in 13 games this season with Red Deer, he also has 14 penalty minutes and is -5. Redmond was the Rebels first round pick in the 2007 Bantam Draft, 11th overall. Scheidl scored twice and had 5 points in 22 games with the Giants.



Giants Head Coach Don Hay says “We are excited to welcome Connor to our team, he was a high draft pick, and has a lot of talent, and being from the area, he will be excited to play in front of family and friends.” Hay added “We thank Lane for his time as a Giant and wish him the best in Red Deer, we feel this is a trade that is a good fit for both players and both teams”



Redmond, the son of former NHL player Craig Redmond will join the Giants in time for tonight’s game against the Portland Winterhawks

Well that is two former first rounders now traded to Vancouver. Glad to see Red Deer traded Redmond as he was in Wallins dog house and he never lived up to expectations. Even with that did we give up to much for Scheidl or was Redmond damaged goods?

He requested a trade....not much you can do about that?

By the looks of last night I don't think we gave up too much. Scheidl skates well and seems to have some offensive upside that we weren't seeing from Redmond.
