NYREN TRADED TO HITMEN



Kamloops, BC – Kamloops Blazers General Manager Craig Bonner announced this morning that the team has traded 20 year old defenseman Giffen Nyren to the Calgary hitmen in exchange for a conditional 6th round bantam draft pick.

“We would like to wish Giffen all the best and thank him for his time with the Blazers.”

In 25 games with the Blazers this season, Nyren had 3 goals and 11 assists to go along with 38 penalty minutes.

“We felt we needed to add some experience to our blue line and, with over 200 games played in the WHL, Giffen has played in a lot of key situations,” said Hitmen General Manager Kelly Kisio. “We expect him to play some big minutes for our hockey team and help solidify our defense.”

So what can you tell me about Nyren?

should be a forward not a d-man, a liability on back end, he is a good skater though, change might be good for him

It doesnt makes sense.... Kamloops adds a 20 yr old goaltender in Mucha then trades away a very offensive 20 yr old Dman in Nyren. I would of thought Calgary would trade for Jackson from PG instead he is much better tho and more all around, plus has played a TON of defense his last season and half that would help Calgary more then Nyren.
