I didn't watch, attend or listen to the game last night so I don't have any comments to make but over on the Junkies site.

First period opens with them feeling out each other with some back-and-forth play before Kyle Beach moves into the zone on the left side, undresses Medaisky, and then goes sorta-around-into-Jones to score the goal to put Spokane up 1-0. Calgary gets that goal back on the 5-on-3 PP as Kozun gets it across for Stone who puts it on net - Foucault jumps on the rebound to tie the game up 1-1.

Second period the teams settle down to trade shots - there's a period where Spokane had Calgary pinned deep but Jones really played solid in that period. There was one where Kyle Beach came out of the corner and threw it on net and right through Jones from 30 feet out, but Savage blew the play dead with a penalty to Spokane. No goals, scored stayed tied 1-1 going into the 3rd.

In the third period, Hitmen got a powerplay 6-7 minutes in and after having the puck iced by Spokane, Calgary scores on a good transition (Jones-to-Mediasky-to-Broda) where Broda moves to the middle of the ice and snaps it through Reid to put the Hitmen up 2-1. It stayed close and when Medaisky took a penalty, it was a really hectic 2 minutes as Spokane kept a real pressure on right infront of Jones. At one point, Jones was the wrong way around with Stoner behind him down along the goalline keeping the puck out. With about 3 minutes to go in the game, Spokane uses their timeout and it's like the Chiefs turn on a switch while Calgary checks out: Mitch Wahl gets a good shot to tie the game up 2-2, and just over 30 seconds later, Beach, Koper and Jonson play "tic-tac-toe" as they go untouched and put the puck in the back of the net to take the lead 3-2. Calgary had a powerplay for the final minute of the game, but it was just too little too late for our guys.

Tough game to lose, but again there wasn't 60 minutes of effort - the last goal for Spokane looked really pretty if you're a fan of "old timer's no body contact hockey". A telling factor might be that the Hitmen were outscored 3-0 five-on-five so obviously there wasn't a plus player on the Hitmen.
