So when the teams draft these kids, how long do they stay under that teams "protection". Do they HAVE to go directly to their list, and if not are they free agents? How does this work?

I believe a team has to have a spot on their PPL already open to make a draft selection. That's why you see some teams stop drafting earlier than others. They feel there are no more players available that are an improvement over the players already on their list.

Players go directly on a team's PPL and that team holds their WHL rights until they drop them from their PPL, at which time their rights are available to any other WHL team.

Where is a site that lists the top possible bantam draft players?

The only place I found is Hockey Scouting (http://www.hockeyscouting.ca), but's like 80 bucks a year for the service.

If you scroll down there is a section on the top 3 for the WHL Bantam draft with a little write up about each player

I can tell you one thing I hope that Neil Prokop doesnt go early and the Wheaties are able to Draft him. I saw him play against my nephew in the AAA bantam league this season and this kid is a monster. He's about 6'4 180 pounds already and he is such a good skater and a wizard with the puck.

I'll have to forward this info onto the Cougars management. Seems they can't rely on their head scout to pick'em so I should give them this and hope for the best. :clown:
