BLAZERS ACQUIRE FORWARD FROM WHEATKINGS

Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers announced today that they have acquired forward Jordan DePape from the Brandon Wheatkings in exchange for forward Shayne Wiebe.

The 5’11” 190lb forward played last season with the Winnipeg Saints of the MJHL and was named the rookie of the year after collecting 85 points in 55 games. DePape played for Team Western in the 2009 U-17 world hockey challenge and had 9 points in 6 games.

In 22 games this season with the Wheatkings, the Winnipeg native has 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points.

“We are thrilled with the acquisition of Jordan,” Bonner said. “He is ranked in the NHL Central Scouting Top 25 list for the WHL. Jordan is a competitive player that fits into our team identity that we are trying to establish here.”

DePape will join the Blazers this week and will play in games on Friday and Saturday in Prince George before the hockey club breaks for Christmas.

Wheat King fans are real happy to be getting Shayne Wiebe in black and gold and there's no question he'll help in Brandon's M Cup bid. Kamloops is getting a real good player in DePape and with more ice time, and a move to one of the top two forward lines, he's going to find a lot of twine for Kamloops for the next 2 or 3 years.

I think Blazer fans will like DePape in orange and blue ...
