Its pathetic that we cant even beat Edmonton or Lethbridge... or Red Deer without their best players. I know we are missing a couple guys but come on. MJ beat Edmonton 11-2 a little while ago. We shouldnt have to rely on a 17 year old to score goals, even without our top offensive player.

Look at the team though. Our 20s are junk...and they play only when they feel like it(they play hard maybe 80 percent of the time). Which reminds me, its past november, so Strueby is just going to put things in cruise control from here. Expect maybe 5 more goals all year. And its not just the 20s, this entire team is riddled full of players with inconsistant efforts, and it seems Ashton and Mappin seem like more of the same. Its a shame because the pats have one of the most talented teams on paper in the league...but that means NOTHING if you dont use it, and working hard is apart of using it.

It doesnt help that Curtis Hunt is an enabler of this behaviour. Despite his rep as a hardass. Hunt's unwritten message is clear that he plays his favorites regardless of how they are doing, and the players know it. Guys like Hutt and Hrcina who should be near PPG are being relegated to low minutes or even scratched, and 4th liners working their ass off one night get scratched for no reason the next, simply just rotating the 'pawns' and keeping the bishops and rooks out. Guys like Favreau and Gardiner(getting rid of him was extremely stupid) arent the most skilled but at least they work their ass off every night, and deserve(d) to play if they keep it up. How else are they going to develop as players and who knows...maybe score some goals.

Look at hunt throwing Ashton on the power play on basically his first shift as a pat...and keeping him on there the entire time, as if other players havnt earned that opportunity. He has already earned his way into Hunt's circle of players and hes played 4 games. What a load.

Hunt isnt even the biggest problem. Its the type of players we got, the type of coach we got, but it all starts and ends with Parker and son. Old man calgary probably doesnt pay attention to the pats, so brent is basically the owner. Ive had it with this guy and so has EVERY OTHER FAN IN THE CITY. Its not even the fact the pats stink currently, its the consistant 12 years of these horse **** results, and Ive had enough.

Its the money over winning philosophy, his nepotistic attitude, and its his arrogance. Some people, even I am guilty of it, keep saying he is a good GM because he isnt afraid to take chances. Well people, he isnt afraid to take chances because he has absolute job security. He is still here in the morning even if he trades Eberle for a big mac meal. Really, as long as people are attending games, he doesnt really care. Just look at how he chose a coach last year. Everett gets Hartsburg this year, Lethbridge gets Preston, and Chilliwack gets Habscheid. These teams want to win. Parker just wants to make money.

If Parker isnt gone next year, I'm going to be...not that Brent cares. These days everywhere it seems hockey is about the quantity of butts in the seats rather than attracting loyal fans aka quality, unless your in phoenix.

Haha. What a great read dude. Makes sense what's on paper, but is the chemistry there? To have a respectful team , you need to earn respect and equality goes along way. Maybe the head coaches name was mixed up with the first letters in his name being backwards.

Good Luck

Good Luck

most of it was ranting, but ill gladly take a compliment.

The problem with chemistry is that we give our team a near facelift every year. It takes more than a couple days to develop chemistry, and we go into the playoffs with a team 2 months familar with eachother, especally since we always deal with world junior absences.

A situation like this where most of our regular defence isnt available, the team is on a losing streak on a roadtrip, and we are missing our best offensive player who happens to account for around 50 percent of our offence is definitely not a comfortable situation to get new players acquainted with the team either.

But maybe you are right. Perhaps Curtis hunt should call cousin of the same last name Mike to come help out.

A situation like this where most of our regular defence isnt availableAll these big strappin 19-20 year old forwards, and in Red Deer on Tuesday he dressed his 5'9 150lb Swedish forward as the 6th defenseman. I am surprised that nobody called him on that one.

If you guys win a game this weekend I will be shocked

One of the reasons I was shocked that Regina made the moves they did because I thought they did not have the depth without their top guys to win any games.

I am Suprised the Pats havent managed to pull of the wins in Lethbridge and Edmonton as well...cant seem to get together out on the ice..hopefully for you guys things improve when the guys in the Junior tournement get back ( would be nice to see Sask and brandon get some competition)

As for Ashton..good luck on that one..he is a very hot and cold type a guy..he also sometimes cant find a helmut big enough for his head( if ya know what i mean) if he gets one good scoring chance in the game you watch he will not pass the puck for the rest of the game just Shot shot shot!
drove me crazy here in Lethbridge. Fortunatly for you guys if he gets on a scoring streak (IF) he can put up some big numbers!!??

you also mentioned us in Leth getting Preston as a coach..I truly believe he wants to win as well BUT he has also shown that he will play the crap outta the old guys( Henke) while scratching or llimiting the ice time of any of our young guns. We have Preston playing one of our defensemen (Ross) as a forward:confused: while benching guys like Moser and Renners?? Just goes to show ya that there is some wierd coaching goin on here to not just in Regina!!

Anyways..hope you guys turn it around soon and see ya on the 2nd of January hopefully it will be a better game!!

I too expected more from the older guys. I would even classify Mitchell in this underacheiving catagory. And if it wasn't for Weal the Pats would have no offense at all.
Taking into account that the Pats are going into what seems like their yearly dive, is it the coach? There was a lot of blame put on Derkatch last year, when he was not given the power to name his own line up. Is Hunt in the same boat? And if he is, why did he come back?
Saying that the Pats missed signing some of the other coaches is a fantasy. The quality coaches that move to other teams wanted to run the show. They are not going to come to Regina for Parker to call the shots.

It's time a few teams brought in some new coaching blood that hasn't already been league tainted. If they have not proven themselves elsewhere why keep bringing them back?

As for the Pats; Holy (many words fill in here) , since the trade has there been a chemical imbalance in the team or what? Bringing in some proven players is supposed to help. Signs of headcases maybe? There are ways to deal with such effectively.

Was the team relying too much on the big gun (Eberle) for success.
Prior to the World Junior camp, a quick look at the scoresheets was almost hard to look at, "Goals- Eberle, Eberle, Eberle, Assists- Eberle, Eberle".
Where the hell is the rest of the team, watching the Eberle show?
Now reality has set in and Eberle is not there to bail them out, again and again.
I am worried if "He" gets traded before the deadline, this team might curl up in the corner and decay into a puddle.

Thats what I have saying and I know it upsets some Pats fans but they could have traded away Eberle and Teubert for some pretty damm good prospects/picks.

I almost certain Brandon would have given you Depape,Miller,Swryirpa and Fransoo along with a draft pick for those 2.

Not only that you don't need to make the Ashton deal. You keep Hood and Balog.

You go into next year with a pretty decent group you play your rookies in Stephenson,Balog,Swriypa and Fransoo. A guy like Landon Peel whom I have seen I think will play in the WHL is there as well.

Add that to Weal,Mitchell,Bell,Bortsmeyer, and Tendler you probably have a real good team next year and real dominant team the year after.

Now I am not so sure. Even though I am a Brandon Fan I want to see the eastern teams succeed. But it looks like the Pats may have just shot themselves in the foot.

The trades they did last week, were all stupid and your team deserves to suffer because of them, and clearly you are and will for the next few years. Anyone will agree who is not an idiot.

Pretty harsh Dagley hopefully those comments don't come back to haunt us we could end up facing the Pats in the first round

I really liked this trade right from the get go and still think it will work out very good for us. Sorry, but to me Ashton is over rated. Great stats last year but remember, he played with guys like Boychuk and Sceviour which helps a lot. Takes too many shifts and games off for my liking. Also you will notice he takes a lot of slashing/hooking type penalties. Dumb penalties. He does not hit much for his size either. I am not saying he is no good but he has the talent to be a better player than he is. Just don't expect him to light it up any time soon.
Orfino is OK but there are dozens of players like him in the league.
We got 4 guys who may play for years and years for us and one or more of them could be star players.
I was shocked to see Regina make this move. You have Calg, S'toon and Brandon in your conference, not to mention a very good Hat team. Your not going to get home ice in the first round no matter how well you play and those top 4 teams are pretty darn good. The Pat's might be lucky to get 6 playoff games in this year. If Regina does not turn it around immediately, and not wait for Eberle and Teubert, they could have a bit of a tough time just making the playoffs! If they don't get going now I think it may end up being a battle of The Trans Canada teams (Swift, MJ and the Pats) for the eight and final spot. That will proabably get you a retooled and awfully good Brandon team in the first round. Good luck with that eh.

To me Ashton is a ok WHL player a 30 gola scorer for sure but when i watched him in midget he rode the coatailes of Bubnick and Schenn when they had that killer line

Ashton got into a very bad habit with the Hurricanes this year. Hogging the puck became his style especially on the powerplay. Usually he would rag the puck in the offensive zone for precious seconds then eventually lose it. The Canes power play as weak as it is, has improved since Ashton left. But I guess he got what he wanted, a trade out of Lethbridge. However, with the Pats playing the way they are, he may have ended up with the same result. On the outside looking in!

I feel your pain. Edmonton is no giant killer but are better than they appear. Same thing though - a coach who gets in the way of himsel. I love guys who stand on the bench, quietly appraising their own talent, and then rewarding hard work and effort. I tell you what; they are darn few and far between and most of them are replacement coaches who are stuck with the last guys mistakes (including the G.M.) Kamloops new Coach, Charron, is a great example of that-and I know nothing about him except what I have seen and he will get that team playing as well as they can, and he will play the guys who work. I think Don Hay is the same and he sure gets guys out of there fast who don't buy in. Kdyrna is a perfect example. Skill to burn but lazy and didn't care about the system....gone. And yes he is putting up numbers in Red Deer and good on him, but is Red Deer gonna win anything this year? Not. Don knows what it would mean to let one lazy talented guy get away with it, so he doesn't. He plays the heck out of some guys, but they earn the right and never quit trying. All I want for Christmas is someone to pay attention to what works and what doesn't. Saskatoon has been lights out for 2 years and not likely to go away anytime soon. The reason? They don't go giving away the future for Carter Ashton et. al. And they have a Coach with a head for the game of working in youth with experience. Look at Portland. So bad for years and then? New owner, GM, Coach, system, and bingo instant results. When you are drafting as high as they have for a couple of years it is hard to completely wrong but still, someone found Niedereiter and the Coach had the brains to play him. Hutt was great there too under the same coachm and now? A bad porn movie - in/out/in/out
Good luck guys, you deserve a whole lot better.

Hutt has skills i will give him that but he is very lazy, we have way to many very lazy players... but i totally agree with SAJ on the gardnier thing ya he may not be the most skilled guy out there but he brings it every game works hard, hits, will fight. Id take a full team of those guys before most of the players on our team.

As much as i liked getting Ashton as it will give us a solid player next year as well, it was really uncalled for. This team is doing the exact same thing it did last year. Last year we were tied for 1st when Eberle & Teubert went to WJ training camp and made the team, the Pats went head 1st downhill a mountain & its happening again.

Strueby will prob only score a few more times this year he always gets out of the gates fast but slows down. Where is Leffler?? & has anyone seen the guy who normally wears #44?? i think his name is Delahey but not really sure anymore. In this league your only as good as ur 19 & 20 yrs are & right now all 3 of our 20 yr olds r brutal i wouldnt take any of them on my team at this point in the season. Our 19 yr olds have been fine, Eberle, Teubert & Hrcina have been consistant all season long only thing i dont understand is how come Hunt doesnt play Hrcina more this kid has really picked up his game alot but yet he is still playing 3rd or 4th line.

I have never questioned Parker for wanting to win but the way Hunt has been coaching i question his ability more and more
