2009 was a horrible year for the Pats. Not only last season after world juniors(by far the worst of the decade, even worse than 2004-05), but the first half of this season has been underwhelming with an awful end to top it off.

The injuries will clear up soon, the horrible road trip will end soon, and our best players will return. The bad luck ends here, its a fresh start.

Whether we decide to trade Eberle and Teubert to help solidify next year's chances or not...my hopes are that maybe 2010 will be kinder to the Regina Pats.

The problem is it will not get any better until the Parkers decide to sell the team and if the team makes money every year why would you sell it? The biggest problem with the Pats is Parker and his lack of knowledge about the game of hockey, the players who play hockey and how to build a team. The way you learn is by failing and learning from your mistakes. If he was a normal GM then over the past 12 years when he made many mistakes he would have been fired and then he would have learned from them and been a better GM if he ever got another opporntunity. If there is no accountability when you screw up then you probably think you are doing a good job and it must be someone else's fault. This applies to the way he runs the Pats, there is no accountability for some players while others are held accountable for their actions. This goes to his lack of knowledge about hockey and being a hockey player. He never played the game at any level and therefore he does not understand that if you treat players differently then you create an environment where the players start to dislike one another and if your dressing room isn't good then it doesn't matter how much talent you have you are not going to succeed. Go ahead and ask any Pats player whether they respect Brent's knowledge of the game and the way he deals with discipline issues. There is no respect in that room for him as a hockey man, they probably like him however they do not respect him. If you don't have the respect of your players you are finished.

This will be the one and only job Brent Parker will ever have in hockey. He did not earn the job, he is no good at it and once Dad sells the team he is finished. I guess Russ could buy another hockey team just so his son would have a job. Funniest thing is if you were to ask Brent I think he really thinks he is doing a good job however if you were to ask anyone who is a knowledgeable hockey person they would tell you that Brent Parker is the biggest joke in hockey! Not just in the WHL!

You could go on forever about Parker, how about trading for 3 forwards this year when clearly the problem is in nets and defense first. How do you think the Pats would have done if they traded for three quality dmen or a goalie instead of the guys they got from Lethbridge and Vancouver? Again you need to know how to build a team and anyone who knows anything about hockey, if you want to compete and win at any level you need solid goaltending and defense first. Could go on forever but it's just too easy. I will say this, if the Parkers sell this team to Mike Sillinger's group, the francise will see an immediate turnaround, I guarantee it!

wow i agree with u 110%

the problem with this franchise is Brent Parker himself.... nothing wrong with Russ Parker owning the team but he has to let his son go & bring in a real hockey guy as a GM.

Sillinger & Heward seem to be very interested in purchasing the Regina Pats, which i really hope it happens this summer. Curtis Hunt may not even have a job anymore if this goes through. I can see either Sillinger or Heward becoming a Head Coach if they buy the team. The both already have ties in the team as they have been helping players in a couple practices a month.
Sillinger has done wonders with Mulder at faceoffs, Mulder is by far our most improved player from last year to this year. If Mulder can ever find his scoring touch at the WHL level like he had in Midget he will be a force forsure, but time is running out for Mulder as he is already 18. Hopfully his offensive production can increase in the new year, but it is hard to get offensive chances on a consistant basis when playing on the 4th line. I truely feel this guy could score on a regular basis is put in a more offensive role.

As much as i dont want to say it but with the current 9 game lossing streak the Pats are on how cant Parker be looking at tradeing Eberle & Teubert now. But then i remember Parker's history in trading star players. Calder, Stuart & Harding he screwed up all 3 of those trades so in all honesty Parker better keep Eberle & Teubert cuz he wont get the return he should cuz he will think he can save a player frolm a troublesome sitiuation and it will work out here in Regina.... Parker can make good deals except when it involves a star player leaving his team.
